Truly, nothing can break the bond between mother and child — not even a silent war that has gone on for years.
When socialite and actress Gretchen Barretto, who has been estranged from her parents since 2013, visited the wake of her father Miguel Barretto last night, October 16, her mother Inday welcomed her with a long and tight embrace.
Miguel Barretto, 82, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Two weeks prior, during his birthday celebration on September 29, the family patriarch fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. His health has since deteriorated.
It was Gretchen's sister, actress Claudine Barretto, who posted the video on Instagram. She captioned it, "And then, we are complete @gretchenbarretto I'm so proud of u. I admire & luv u more today #doubleinfinity #thatsmyAte. WELCOME HOME."
In the short video, Gretchen can be seen walking tentatively towards the front of the chapel. Seated near the casket in a group were her mother Inday and President Rodrigo Duterte, who also came by to offer his condolences to the family. The President acknowledged Gretchen and spoke with her briefly as Inday looked on.

The amateur video pans sideways for a moment, and when it focuses back to the group, Gretchen and Inday, though partly covered, can be seen hugging.
The video has no audio, but it's possible that no words needed to be spoken between the mother and her long-lost daughter.
