Iya Villania's Dede-cation: She Breastfed Alana While Reporting Live On TV

In one of the recent episodes of GMA 7's 24 Oras, Iya Villania revealed that she was breastfeeding her newborn daughter, Alana, while reporting on live TV.

"You've never even guess there's a baby feeding," Iya shared on one of her Instagram Stories.  

One photo shows the mom of three, cradling Alana on her lap as she nurses her. The other photo shows Iya on the TV screen with no hint of her having her newborn on her lap.

Iya went back to work soon after giving birth to daughter Alana in July.  When it was time for her "Chika Minute" report on GMA 7's 24 Oras and her daughter's feeding time, t's not a problem. Iya pointed out that it as "one of the perks of working from home." 

In a photo that Drew shared, it shows son Leon, who just turned 2, eating ice cream on their couch. Iya can be seen breastfeeding Alana in the background. 

Last month, August 2020, Drew Arellano shared a photo of his wife breastfeeding Alana while working on her laptop.  He captioned it: "Now that's dede-cation."

Experts recommend exclusively breastfeeding babies until 6 months old when they can start eating solid foods. Between baby's birth up to 3 months, newborns need to feed every two to three hours. It is crucial to feed the baby on demand, or every time the little one is hungry.

Doctors also encourage direct latching as much as possible and wait until after six weeks to start pumping breast milk. Typically, moms begin expressing breast milk to build their stash in preparation for when they need to go back to work.  But working from home may change that.
