Former Sexbomb dancer Izzy Trazona-Aragon recently posted a heartfelt message on Facebook, seemingly directed towards her son, Andrei Trazona, who recently came out as a drag queen. The first part of her message expressed love and concern for her child, saying, “I miss you, Drei; you’re always in my prayers... every day. I love you so much. And that will never change.”
The next part of her message seems to imply disagreement with her son’s decisions, saying, “Sometimes, parents and their children have disagreements, and it's normal. But I know both sides have that pain in their [heart] and wish that they will simply agree with each other. Both have their reasons for what they are fighting for.”
Izzy continued by sharing her own experience as a daughter with her parents, “I myself experienced being a daughter to my parents. I had a lot of things in mind to do, but my mom kept saying ‘no.’ Of course, sadness and hatred is what I felt, and later I realized that she was just protecting me. Back then, all I saw was her angry face, but now I realize it was LOVE. I thought my mom didn’t want me to be happy, but she was just concerned that in the end, I won’t get hurt with my decisions.”
She then revealed that this seems to be a recurring topic between her and Andrei, saying, “Once you told me, ‘you’ll never know what I feel kasi you were never in my shoes.’”
“Yes, I agree, same with me. Hindi mo pa rin naman nararanasan maging magulang. All I want is the best for you. I’m holding on to the TRUTH that is written in the Bible, the Word of God, the One who created us.”
The next part of her message seems to explain her reasons, “Nandoon kasi ako sa ending ng lahat ng ito, Heaven & earth will pass, but my words will not pass away (Matt 24:35).”
“So if my children, the four of them, will do something that is against the faith that I have in Christ, that will I disagree. I point them to Jesus because with that, I will be secured with their future.”
“The best I know I can give to my children, more than richness, fame, and all, is putting my hope on what Jesus did on the cross for me. He paid the consequence of my sin, instead of me paying it. Sin will bring me to eternal death, hell. But He saved me, by believing and surrendering my life to that truth.”
Izzy then ended by saying that she loves her son and wants to save him, “Sino ba naman magulang ang gustong mapahamak ang anak? When all your motive is to save them sa mas masakit na pwede nilang maranasan. Ang buhay na wala si Kristo.”
“Andrei anak, I love you so much to not support you in things that will harm you. I am always here for you… your mama, mahal na mahal kita.”
Andrei’s reply
It was initially reported that Izzy embraced Andrei, also known by the stage name Sofia, and his identity.
Andrei seems to reply to his mother’s post on his Facebook. He posted, “It’s like saying I love you because you’re my son but I don’t accept you for who you are.”
In another post, he also admitted that he lied in an interview, saying, “I lied in an interview that she supports what I am and what I do just to protect her from any backlash, but there’s no point in protecting her because the truth came out straight from her…”
In his post, Andrei further revealed that he’s sustaining himself and living responsibly, “As much as I love you, you know that I don’t wanna live in a lie. I’ve been sustaining myself for years now, and I am living responsibly honest. I’m tired of this conversation about me being gay and doing drag. I wanna end this argument by saying that ‘I wanna live my own truth, and someday you will be proud of what I will become.’”
“I love you so much, Mom, but this isn’t healthy for me anymore. I hope someday you will understand how it feels to be in my shoes. I miss you, but you’re not bringing me any comfort and compassion I deserve.”
Netizens react
Some voiced their support for her Christian values while also pointing out that this is a family matter and should be handled privately.
Others voiced their disappointment and said, “Akala ko tanggap siya.”
While others questioned her stance.
Others also voiced their support for Andrei.
Other netizens have posted reminders to parents and parents-to-be about the harm that can result when children perceive that their own parents cannot see and accept them for who they are.
