Kasambahay Salary Increase: NCR Domestic Helpers To Get P1K More
  • Domestic helpers in Metro Manila are soon entitled to receive a P1,000 increase in their monthly salary. Previously, the kasambahay minimum wage was P5,000.
The good news came after the approval of wage orders from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, reported the Philippine News Agency. Once the approval has been published in a national newspaper, the standardized salary increase should be in effect after 15 days.

On June 16, 2022, several wage orders were issued to increase the minimum wage of domestic helpers across the different regions. The Philippine Information Agency announced that same day that Davao City and Region 11 had set P4,500 as their minimum wage.

Cebu City and the rest of Central Visayas also approved a P500 salary increase for their kasambahay minimum wage, which is now set at P5,500.

According to Cebu News Daily, this is the highest minimum wage increase for Region 7 since 1989.
Before 2018, the minimum wage in NCR was P3,500.
As of 2022, only Region 4 (CALABARZON – Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Lucena) and the municipalities of Region 12 (Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat) have a P3,000 to P3,500 minimum wage for its domestic helpers.
Other service providers such as family drivers and any non-occupational workers are not covered.
