No matter how challenging parenthood is, any mom or dad will agree it is worth every sacrifice. As they say, it is the little, everyday moments that really fill the heart.
LJ Reyes, mom to a tween son and a 9-month-old daughter, recently shared on Instagram one such moment that happened recently.
The actress shared that while leading the family’s prayer before dinner, her 9-year-old son Aki added, “God please don’t let Mommy and Tito Pao die. Let them live forever! But if you ever need to take them away, please take me instead!”
It broke LJ’s heart to hear her son say this. “Naiyak akooooo! Pinigilan ko lang kasi hindi kaya ng puso ko!” she captioned a photo of herself and Aki, who has always been affectionate towards his mom.
Any mom and dad can relate, for sure. Just as kids are afraid of losing their parents, letting go of (or, God forbid, losing) a child is any parent’s nightmare.
“My prayer everyday is for God to give me long life so I can see my kids grow up. So I can guide them and be there for them as long as I can.
“I always tell Pao losing any one of them will really break me! So hearing this prayer from Aki, I felt scared coz I don’t ever want that to happen! NEVER!”
LJ adds, “But it’s definitely one of the ‘Awwwww’ moments of my life, when you know your child loves you that much!”
On the comments section, Paolo Contis, LJ’s partner and father of her daughter Summer Ayana, joined the love-fest and addressed Aki. “My sweet boy, hindi ako iiyak...” he wrote.
Throughout the four years Paolo has been with LJ, he has always maintained a close relationship with LJ’s son from a previous relationship and considers Aki like his own.
