Maja Salvador Shares Why She Keeps Daughter Maria's Face Private

The public won't be seeing baby Maria's face anytime soon, as mom Maja Salvador reveals she plans to keep it private.

During the renewal of her Beautederm endorsement at Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, Maja shared the reasons behind her decision to protect her daughter from the public eye.

Maja on why she's keeping Maria's face private

Despite growing public curiosity, the celebrity mom has made it a priority to protect her daughter Maria's privacy.

"Hindi ko pa talaga masasagot kung kailan ko siya ipe-face reveal...kung kailan ko siya ipapakita sa public. Siguro ibigay na muna nila sa 'kin," she shared with Manila Bulletin.

The actress also expressed concerns about the risks of sharing photos online, especially with the rise of AI or artificial intelligence, fearing that her daughter's pictures could be misused.

She went on to address the harsh realities of online criticism, drawing from what she's witnessed happening to friends who are also parents. "Marami tayong kaibigan sa industry na may mga anak. Tapos yung mga inosenteng bata pino-post sa social media dahil gusto ng magulang. Pero anak nila 'yun at proud sila. Pero kasi may mga perfect na tao na kung maka-bash ay wagas," Maja explained.

"Inosente yung mga bata tapos iba-bash nila. Hindi ko na lang ise-share kung iba-bash lang naman nila," she added.

Although Maja and her husband, Rambo Nuñez, don't go out of their way to cover Maria's face when they’re out, and are happy to take photos with fans, Maja explains that her team asks people not to post them online, and they've always been respectful of that request.

Maja on her new priority and feeling mom guilt

Maja, once a workaholic, now prioritizes her family while managing her career. Reflecting on this shift, she shared with ABS-CBN News, "'Yung priorities, decisions [ko] sa life, titingnan ko lang si Maria, parang masasagot na."

Still, balancing motherhood and her career hasn't always been easy. Ahead of her return to the variety show ASAP, Maja opened up about experiencing mom guilt.

"Bilang first time mom, mag-six months siya 'nung first appearance ko sa ASAP. Medyo may hesitation akong gawin 'yun kasi feel na feel ko talaga maging mom. Na-miss ko rin magsayaw. Nagsabi rin ako kay Rambo. Almost two weeks akong nag-prepare, at six hours ko siyang iniiwan, at talagang super guilty ako. Totoo pala talaga 'yun (mom guilt)," Maja said.

"Ang laking parte ni Maria sa kung sino ako ngayon kasi kinumpleto niya 'yung pagkababae ko. Siya 'yung kumumpleto sa pangarap ko. Laging si Maria. Bawat trabaho, 'yung dressing room ko, kailangang may mas malaking space nang konti kasi bitbit ko si Maria," Maja told ABS-CBN News.

Her respect for her mother, who raised her as a single parent, has also grown deeper than ever. "Nung nagkaroon na ako ng Maria, ang taas na nang tingin ko sa nanay ko. Dati pa lang, saludung-saludo na ako kasi single mom siya, pero nung nagkaroon ako ng Maria at na-experience 'yung maging mommy, mas lalo akong tumingala sa kanya," she shared.

When asked about her three-year absence from the spotlight, she explained that she didn't fear it because she was ready to embrace motherhood.

Maja said, "Hindi ako natakot kasi ready akong magpakananay at maging isang asawa. Ang tagal kong dinasal na magkaroon ng sariling pamilya at maging isang nanay, at ibinigay sa 'kin. Napakasuwerte ko lang din po talaga na may mga nagtitiwala pa rin sa 'kin."
