Mariel Rodriguez is back on television after a two-year hiatus.
The TV host went on leave in 2016 from ABS-CBN’s weekday noontime show, It’s Showtime, where she was a co-host since January of that year, to give birth to her firstborn Isabella.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Mariel described her comeback as “Overwhelming.”
"I'm grateful that I still have a home to come back to, which is Showtime.
"There's no better home than Showtime so I'm really, really, very grateful.
"Nakakakaba talaga, but once na tumapak ka dun, it felt home talaga na sila uli ang makakasama ko.
"Naramdaman ko bigla na sobra ko pala sila na-miss."
According to the TV host, it was a tough decision for her to make, but she made this choice so her daughter would be proud of her someday.
Mariel talked about their family's new set-up, now that she has gone back to work.

"I arrange for her things to do, may swimming class siya, may school siya, ganyan, para busy siya.
"Nahihirapan ako, honestly hirap na hirap ako, kasi siyempre, first day ko. It's really very hard.
"Kaya nga sabi ko lalo akong napapasaludo sa lahat ng working moms kasi si Isabella, 19 months na nung nahiwalay ako sa kanya.
"What about yung mga moms na two months pa lang ang anak nila na kailangan na nilang iwan, they have to work?" [Current Philippine laws allow a paid maternity leave of 60 to 78 days - Ed.]
She also gave due credit to her husband, actor Robin Padilla, for giving his all-out support to her.
"He's very supportive talaga. Sabi ko nga lagi, di ko magagawa lahat ng ginagawa ko kundi dahil sa kanya."
