  • Even though they’ve parted ways as husband and wife, Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez have remained such good friends that they would always still spend special occasions and holidays together with their two sons, Robin and Ram. Christmas of 2019, however, was extraordinarily special because along with them in one of their holiday photos was Katrina Ojeda, the woman romantically linked to Martin while he was still married to Pops, and their 12-year-old son Santino.

Pops shared a photo on Instagram of the said reunion, which happened after the ex-couple’s concert in Las Vegas. “Christmas begins with Christ... merry Christmas,” she captioned it.

At the press conference for her upcoming Valentine concert with Martin at The Theatre @Solaire, Pops shared with Pep.ph her thoughts about their holiday celebrations.

“I’m happy to say, for the very first time, our Christmas… not quite normal yet, but somehow we made it work.

“I wanted the boys to be together, and they did, and I think they had a great time,” Pops said.

It was Katrina who allegedly caused the breakup of Martin and Pops’ marriage, so people are wondering what meeting each other for the first time was like for the two women. Pops admits, it wasn’t easy.

“I don’t think I’m gonna be a normal human being if ganoon kadali. But I think like I said, time heals a lot of wounds,” she said.

Holding back tears, Pops said she has been blessed with so much that she cannot afford not to forgive.

“For me kasi, I’m okay, I’m doing quite well. I’m blessed, of course, with my two boys.

“Parang nawala na talaga yung galit ko… kung ano man yun.”

She also shared how meeting Santino softened her heart.

“The other factor, when I saw Santino, such a sweet kid... I think that totally changed my whole… yung pananaw ko talaga.

“So, I said everything has to be okay, and it is.”

The get-together happened at Katrina’s home in the U.S., according to Martin, who admits being in the middle of it all felt awkward at first.

“It wasn’t comfortable for me having both Pops and Katrina in the same table,” he said.

“It wasn’t very forced… because the kids get along well. And Katrina made a big feast for us.

“It’s been a long time. I mean, you know me and Katrina are not together anymore either, so it’s the whole modern family concept.

“It was magic. It was Christmas. That’s what Christmas is all about.”

Like he always does, Martin gave credit to Pops for agreeing to the idea of spending the holidays together, “because if she doesn’t allow it, it’s a whole different ballgame.

“It’s the woman really… it’s the one who was left with all of this burden and so on, that have to cope with these things or make a choice to cope with it or not.

“She made the choice to cope with it,” Martin said, adding that Pops is indeed a “powerful” woman.

But Pops was quick to share the compliment with Katrina. “I think same goes to Katrina. She also had difficult times.”
