NCCT Debuts Children's Learning Series on Knowledge Channel

If your child is only exposed to Western TV shows and media, they might not connect with their cultural roots. However, you can deepen their appreciation for their heritage by introducing them to Filipino shows that are made appropriately for children. 

From August 5, Knowledge Channel and the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) will air new educational and child-friendly programs. Give them a try—these engaging shows are likely to be a worthy addition to your child's screen time.

New Educational Shows Coming to Knowledge Channel This August

Under the banner of Knowledge Channel and NCCT’s Makabata Block, three local shows are set to air: “DokyuBata TV,” “NCCT Originals,” and “Buhay na Buhay,” each made with themes that foster Filipino values, social consciousness, and cultural awareness.

The first show, “DokyuBata TV,” highlights select entries from NCCT’s annual documentary contest, providing a platform for young documentarists to showcase their talents. It premieres on August 5.

Next is “NCCT Originals,” a series of programs that seek to encourage environmental awareness, teach cultural values, strengthen community, and allow kids to practice mindfulness. 

Meanwhile, “Buhay na Buhay” is an eight-part documentary series that delves into the country’s rich cultural heritage based on Professor Felipe de Leon’s concept of eight living cultures. Hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, an advocate for culture and the environment, this series premieres on August 26.

There are more titles to anticipate, including “Mga Awit ni Pina,” which airs on August 10 and offers a modern spin on the classic “Alamat ng Pinya.” Then on August 18, “Wellness’kada” will highlight community and mindfulness amid the pandemic. “Meriam’s Online World,” debuting on August 31, will focus on media literacy in our digital age. Finally, “Mang Lalakbay” will wrap up the series on September 7 with an educational exploration of the Philippines’ natural and man-made wonders.

Catch the Makabata Block seven days a week at 9:00 AM, with replays at 9:00 PM. “DokyuBata TV” and “Buhay na Buhay” air Monday to Friday, while “NCCT Originals” take the weekend slots.

You can watch Knowledge Channel via cable through partner operators, direct-to-home satellite (DTH), Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) with a DTT box, and online streaming on iWantTFC.
