New Interactive Children’s Garden Opens in Singapore

Singapore opens a new outdoor recreational area in their Gardens by the Bay attraction, called the “Far East Organization Children’s Garden”, after the real estate company who contributed $10 million for the project. 

The expanse has play areas with sand and rubber flooring to complete the outdoor experience, with exotic trees such as palm, yellow jade orchid tree, baobab trees from Madagascar and more.

The one-hectare garden offers several interactive installations meant for children between 1 and 12 years old, and is open from 9 am to 9 pm Tuesdays to Sundays. Admission is free.

The garden is divided into four main areas. The Toddler Play Zone (best for kids 1 to 5 years old) features a sway bridge; stepping springs; a fish fountain which has water tunnels, water jets for kids to dodge and enhance their motor skills, as well as fish sculptures with sculpted backs kids can clamber onto. A cafeteria is nearby for snacks and refreshments.

Water Play (best for kids and tweens 6 to 12 years old) has interactive water streams and orchid-shaped “splash buckets” programmed to create continuously changing synchronized water tunnels as well as water play effects from the movement of kids detected by sensors. When the buckets are full, they tip downwards, splashing children. 

For more adventurous kids, the Rainforest Tree Houses (best for kids and tweens 6 to 12 years old), allows them to traverse rope bridges to get to the two tree houses, one of which is 4 meters high, the other 7.5 meters high. They can also take the 130-meter long forest Adventure Trail, which includes a tubular slide, mini-bridge, grasshopper spring stepping pads, a tricky spider net, hill climbing ropes and spinner bowls.

The garden also has a venue for events, the Ampitheatre with Covered Canopy, which can accommodate as many as 300 people.
