Nonito Donaire’s Pregnant Wife Saves Child from Drowning

July 4, 2013—married couple boxing champ “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire and his wife, Rachel Donaire, were spending quality time with peers when they realized that one of their friend’s children had disappeared underwater. 

As Nonito shares on his Twitter account, @filipinoflash, his very pregnant wife, already in her ninth month, jumped into the water without a moment’s hesitation in order to rescue the drowning child.
Rachel was injured in the process and brought to a hospital so that the fetus could be monitored. After just one hour in the hospital, she experienced a sharp pain and was found to have a strained ligament. 

The good news is that Baby Donaire is safe and sound, according to doctors who examined Rachel. She and Nonito are expecting their first child, a boy, anytime this month.
