  • Everybody's obsession with Disney princesses have encouraged a number of artists to re-imagine them as moms—we've featured two who have shared their work (see here and here) — while two other artists drew our beloved Disney princesses as beautiful Filipinas, and dressed in traditional baro't saya.

Kenneth Jayson Recto, a 23-year-old artist from Taguig City, shared his own art versions and interpretations of favorite Disney princesses. He re-imagined Pocahontas, Jasmine, Belle, Moana, and more in the likeness of local Filipino celebrities. Can you quickly tell who these Disney princesses or Filipina celebrities are? Your kids might! Take a look!

It all started from Kenneth's digital art for Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. "Madaming nag-comment na mukha siyang Disney princess, so doon ako nakakuha ng idea," he told Smartparenting.com.ph via Instagram Direct Message. Since he's fond of drawing digital portraits of Kapamilya actresses such as Liza, Sue Ramirez, and Julia Barretto, he started re-imagining them as Disney princesses.

Kenneth draws his digital paintings with the help of software application Autodesk Sketchbook and digital pen tablet Wacom Intuos. As of this posting, Kenneth's Disney princesses album on Facebook has been shared more than 100,000 times and have almost 50,000 reactions. Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Merida are noticeably missing, though.

Among the 2,300 comments on the album are suggestions on local celebrities that should be drawn as Disney princesses. These include Angel Locsin as Queen Elsa, Elise Joson as Cinderella, Sofia Andres as Anna, and Barbie Imperial as Merida. Kenneth has confirmed with Smart Parenting that he's working on portraits of Sarah Geronimo, Yassi Pressman, Janella Salvador, and Anne Curtis. Which Disney princesses will they be? We'll have to wait and see.

Disney princesses have become a staple not only in our kids' childhood, but also in ours as well. By the looks of it, the magic will continue for generations to come.
