In Photos: Maxene Honors Dad Francis Magalona on Wedding Day + Family Moments You'll LoveLove is in the details.
After having a fun Coachella-themed pre-wedding buffet dinner on January 10, Maxene Magalona and Rob Mananquil tied the knot yesterday, January 11, at the Shangri-La Boracay. The wedding took almost one year in the making, after the couple got engaged in February.
In an interview with Pep.ph in May 2017, in the thick of their preparations, Maxene did point out that she wanted to be wed in the Philippines.
"My dad's love for the country is so great. Para sa tatay ko na maka-Pilipino, dito po ako ikakasal," she stated, following a string of celebrity weddings outside of the country.
Maxene's late father, actor/songwriter/rapper Francis Magalona, died in 2009 at the age of 44, after a seven-month bout with acute myelogenous leukemia.
"I still want my dad, kahit papaano, to be a part of the wedding, and feeling ko dahil andito siya nakalibing, gusto ko dito talaga [ako ikakasal]."
On Maxene's wedding day, florist and events designer Teddy Manuel shared a picture of her special bouquet of white roses bearing a locket with Francis's photo in it.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Teddy wrote, "Simple yet meaningful bridal bouquet today for @maxenemagalona. A touch of a locket makes a touching sentiment to share and remember her father on her wedding day."ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Maxx's sister Saab Magalona also had a locket to honor their father during her 2015 Baguio wedding to Jim Bacarro.
Besides the locket, Maxene also walked to the altar to the tune of her dad's song "Girl Be Mine."
And, in lieu of a father-daughter dance at the wedding reception, Maxene performed Francis's hit song "Kaleidoscope World" while a video of him played in the background.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
