Sitti on Having a Yaya: 'Lilibubs Seems to Prefer Her Yaya Over Me'Sitti's sentiments resonate with many moms who've had to leave their children with another caregiver to go back to work and earn a living.by Rachel Perez .
The Philippines' Bossa Nova Queen and her husband Joey Ramirez had decided earlier on not to hire a nanny for their daughter, Issiah Dañelle, for at least the first six months — but now, a few days before their daughter turns four months in March, they've employed a nanny for their Lilibubs.
"So we have a yaya now... and for the past five days, Lilibubs seems to prefer her yaya over me," Sitti Navarro Ramirez wrote on her Instagram Stories. "It seems I don't even know how to comfort her anymore, even after being super hands-on for nearly four months," she added.
Sitti's sentiments resonate with many moms who needed to leave their children with a yaya or another caregiver to be able to work and earn a living. "I have mixed feelings about everything, and I honestly just want to cry," she said.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOWCONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
It is perhaps the same emotions she has every time she comes home from work. "Ang daming 'sana,'" she admits. "Sana sapat na yung nadede niya sa'kin bago ako umalis. Sana makauwi na ako by the time na magising siya at magutom; sana this time, dumede na siya sa mga boteng iniwan ko," Sitti explained.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The first-time mom has been candid about sharing her motherhood journey since she got pregnant naturally after failed infertility treatments. Sitti wrote about her birthing experience, her postpartum recovery, and her breastfeeding struggles which involves having Lilibubs' tongue and lip tie cut to ease their nursing experience. Sitti had also gone through three brands of feeding bottles, none of which her daughter liked.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
"Ang hirap pala maging ina. Parang walang katapusan yung pag-iisip at pag-wo-worry kung tama ba ang ginagawa mo," Sitti wrote and reminded herself that no matter how much she wants to care and protect her daughter, "mas grabe ang pagmamahal sa kanya ng Panginoon," she said.

Sitti and Joey had managed and "actually enjoyed" the first three months of being first-time, hands-on parents to their daughter, including the sleepless nights, nursing challenges, tongue and lip tie surgery and all. "Being first-time-parents, we just really wanted to learn, and we didn’t want to miss a single thing," she explained.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
But the couple had to reconsider since Sitti is back onstage, and recently had to travel for work. She actually brought Lilibubs with her on her baby's first airplane ride when she had to fly to Ilocos Sur for Valentine's shows this month. It was also a practical decision after everyone in their household was struck by a virus. It got to a point when the first-time mom was the only one healthy enough to take care of their little girl.
"I realize though, that I really need to heal first, get enough quality sleep, so I can take care of her better," Sitti said. "I believe that this is also a wake-up call for Joey and me. We’ve been so enamored with our baby that our marriage kinda took the backseat for a while," she added.
Having mixed feelings about having a nanny does not mean Sitti isn't thankful to have help—all moms need it. She just needed a good cry, and then maybe she'll remember what she also wrote: "Oh little one, if only I can bring you with me everywhere. But momma’s gotta hustle and I miss your daddy!"ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
