Dad-to-be Aljur Abrenica has not posted a single photo on Instagram since February, a few weeks after he and fiancée Kylie Padilla confirmed that they're engaged and are on the family way -- until a day ago. "Stumbled upon this picture online that made me more thankful for everything that God has blessed me with. You are the pot of gold at the end of all my rainbows. The reward for all my sacrifices," Aljur wrote in the caption. "You are my love, my life, and inspiration. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait to hold you. I can’t wait to whisper in your ear how much I love you. I'll see you very soon my love," he added.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended VideosADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

"A lovely, thoughtful gesture. Thank you @michelacazzola for the pasalubong," the Queen of All Media wrote on Instagram. The photo shows a Piero Guidi Magic Circus shoulder bag and a simple card from Michela Cazzola, James Yap's girlfriend and mother of his youngest son MJ. The card reads: "Kris, A little something from my hometown. Best, Mic." James, Mic, and Baby MJ, who celebrated his 11th month, had recently returned from a vacation in Italy where they introduced the little boy to his second home. Kris had said in previous interviews that all is well between her and her ex-husband, thanks to Mic who reaches out to her and her sons Bimb and Josh. (gmanetwork.com)
Bill could require child car safety seats in taxis, Uber and Grab units
House Bill 1319, or the "Child Restraint Act," seeks to require the use of child restraint devices or systems such as age-appropriate car seats, booster seats, vests or car beds, and other items that ensure the safety of children riding in private motor vehicles. Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary Mark de Leon suggested to require all taxis and app-based transport systems such as Uber and Grab to have such safety devices as well (may not cover other types of road transportation yet). "We will come up with a study on how to make this practical for all modes of transportation," he said.
Currently, Republic Act 8750, or the Seat Belts Use Act of 1999, requires all passengers to wear seat belts and prohibits infants and children under age six from riding in the front seat. However, the law does not require the use of age-appropriate child safety restraints. If enacted into law, the new bill will penalize violators with a fine of P5,000 or jail time of not more than a month. The driver's license may also be revoked for the second offense, and the offender will have to wait a year after conviction before he can apply for a new license. (gmanetwork.com)
Watch Beautiful Pain, a movie about autismADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
The 2016 movie follows the emotional journey of acceptance of a family after they find out that their only son Daniel has autism. Dad Razlan does not want to accept the fact that his son is different, while mom Alina is trying her best to address the needs of her child. It highlights the struggles and triumphs of confronting the harsh realities of raising a child with special needs when they barely understand the condition. The movie is directed by Tunku Monza Riza and is the first Malaysian film to tackle autism. It was nominated under the category of Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards. Beautiful Pain will be shown in theaters in SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, and SM North EDSA from July 19 to 25, in time for the commemoration of the Philippine National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.
FDA panel recommends approval of first-ever gene therapy for kids
A U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel unanimously recommended approval for the first-ever gene-altering treatment for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common blood cancer in kids. The new therapy, called chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy, is based on using the immune system to fight cancer. Essentially, each patient would have a 'personalized cure'. Time reports that "it involves removing a patient's blood and essentially replacing it with a population of blood cells stacked with cancer-fighting immune cells known as T cells." Researchers use gene therapy to change patients’ bone marrow cells to recognize cancer cells and fight it. There are serious risks, such as severe inflammation, high fever, neurological symptoms, and organ damage; still, the panel determined that the benefit of the therapy outweighs the risks.
