The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Is Back! Here’s A First Look

The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, dubbed as the biggest book sale in the world, is set to open its doors to the public starting on May 24 to June 2 at the Parqal Mall in Aseana City, Parañaque.

Smart Parenting got VIP access on May 23, during the Big Bad Wolf Tour opening ceremony. Media partners and lucky winners of VIP passes through Big Bad Wolf Books’ social media pages got an early glimpse of what’s inside the book fair.

The event was graced by Big Bad Wolf Books co-founder Andrew Yap, Big Bad Wolf Books Philippine Managing Partner Carol Chuaying, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, DSWD Undersecretary of Legislative Affairs Fatima Aliah Dimaporo, as well as representatives from this year’s partners: Metrobank, IKEA, 2GO, Parqal, and Aseana City.

Covering two big halls of the newly-built Parqal Mall in Aseana City, the Big Bad Wolf Tour boasts of 2 million brand new books and ensures avid and new readers that there is something for everyone.

Books you can find at the Big Bad Wolf Tour 2024

Readers need to prepare their stamina to comb through the numerous aisles of books for all ages—an entire hall is dedicated to kiddie books, while the other hall is filled with every possible genre.

It’s easy to find what you need despite the volume of books present. Books are sorted and displayed per type and genre, with multiple books available per title. Prices are also easy to find, as each book is tagged with a letter indicating its price. Take note that book prices start at Php 60, plus additional discounts! It’s easy to find your way to every book you need!

The hall for kids is a haven for parents; every book you need (and want) is here! From board books for little ones to picture, music, and pop-up books for toddlers, plus activity, coloring, and learning books for young learners.

Homeschooling parents can also find study materials such as the First Writing Skills Book, Cursive Writing, Basic Counting, Learning How To Draw, and many more.

One thing to note is the availability of specialty book sets, a collection of two or more books under one topic or genre. “My First Heroes Collection” includes four books about Inventors, Explorers, Artists, and Scientists. There are numerous “My Little Library” and “Little Learning Library” sets that include board books of numbers, letters, shapes, and patterns.

For bigger kids and young adults, Big Bad Wolf Tour also carries the complete sets of the Harry Potter series, Maze Runner, Percy Jackson, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. There are also collectible and special items, great for fans! There is also a wide variety of graphic books and comics for Star Wars and Marvel Universe fans.

It’s the perfect time to introduce kids (and maybe re-read classic novels) such as the Collection of Stories by Hans Christian Andersen, re-imagined covers of Charles Dickens's books, and even The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. Other classics available with updated covers are 1984 by George Orwell, Sherlock Holmes, and True at First Light by Ernest Hemingway.

Another aisle worth combing through is the parenting books. Some of the interesting titles include “Mindfulness for Children,” “Parent Alert: How to Keep Your Kids Safe Online,” “When the World Feels Like A Scary Place: Essential Conversations for Anxious Parents and Worried Kids,” “How to Talk When Kids Won’t Listen,” and “The Gentle Parenting Book.” These are noteworthy parenting books as they are updated and relatable to current parenting issues such as screen time, the pandemic, and mental health.

There is also a wide array of religion, business, self-help, crime fiction, romance, and history books.

Big Bad Wolf Tour 2024 tips and tricks

1. Don't get lost!

Big Bad Wolf Tour is located at Parqal Mall in Aseana City, Paranaque. To view the location on Waze or Google Maps, search for 'The Kitchen by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Parqal Mall.' Once there, head to the Rattan and Banig building. The book fair is located at the 3rd floor.

2. There's a play area for kids.

If it gets too tiring or you just need a space to sort out and decide which books to buy, Ikea Philippines set up a comfortable lounge area in both halls. In the hall with kiddie books, there are toys available for playing! It also offers Ikea membership onsite with freebies. There’s also a mini-inflatable playground inside (with separate payment) if adults need some time searching for more books!

2. Food stalls are available.

Inside the hall are various food stalls if little ones (or big ones!) get hungry from all the book searching. 

3. No pets allowed.

According to Big Bad Wolf Books' Facebook page, you can bring your family, barkada, and loved ones, but pets are not allowed in the venue. 

4. Don't forget your wallet!

Pay for your book haul via cash, credit or debit cards, and e-wallet payments. 

5. Scan and register in advance.
