She showed symptoms of fever and rashes, and she is one of the 10 newest confirmed cases announced yesterday, which brought the total of Zika cases in the country to 33. Tayag confirmed the news on his Twitter account (above) and added ultrasound has not yet been performed. The DOH did not immediately reveal to the press that the patient was pregnant because health officials were still awaiting confirmation on the diagnosis. This is the second pregnant patient who has been infected by Zika, which is known to cause microcephaly in babies born to infected mothers. The first pregnant woman who tested positive for the virus is from Cebu; she has had two ultrasounds that showed the unborn baby has no abnormalities. She is expected to give birth in January next year. (inquirer.net)

    5. Mattel fashions Barbie doll after plus-size model

When curvy model and body activist Ashley Graham told Access Hollywood that she was inspired by Mattel's new Barbie dolls that embraced all kind of body types, Mattel was listening. The toy manufacturer reached out to the 28-year-old celebrity to collaborate on a Barbie doll created in her own image. "She had to have her thighs touch. No ands, ifs or buts about it," Ashley, who shared her mini-me on Instagram, said. "It was important that the Barbie resembled me as much as possible. The thighs touching was one way to show young girls that it's OK for your thighs to touch, despite society saying that a 'thigh gap' is more beautiful." Mattel released new Barbie dolls that had petite, tall and curvy bodies, seven new skin tones, 22 eye colors, and 24 hairstyles. Watch the video of how they made the Ashley Graham Barbie here.
