2. New disability-inclusive paper doll set
Clothing company Matilda Jane Clothing (MJC) partnered with the nonprofit group Changing the Face of Beauty to diversify the types of children seen in their advertisements and in the media. In line with this, MJC recently released a disability-inclusive paper doll sheet. The set includes some cut-out dresses, accessories, and pair of crutches. “Creating these dolls is a fun, nostalgic project and brings back fond memories of playing with paper dolls when many of us were little girls. We hope girls will love these paper dolls and enjoy playing with them for hours. Ultimately we want all girls to feel beautiful and comfortable being who they are,” MJC marketing manager Katie Virag said in an interview. 3. 3D-printed windpipe helped improve little girl’s condition
Doctors used a 3D-windpidpe to practice a delicate surgery for six-year-old Katie Parke from Northern England. Katie has pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, where grainy deposits build up in the microscopic air sacs in her lungs, making it harder for her to breathe. The team at Great Ormond Street Hospital used a CT scan of Katie to print out a 3D rubber model of her trachea, and the doctors said that the technology had enabled them to pick the correct tools needed to wash her lungs. The results meant Katie needed to spend less time under anesthesia and being ventilated during the operation. The technology had also been done to print 3D models of part of the brain ahead of surgery. (bbc.com)

5. “Dadbod” at Fashion Week?
Josh Ostroversky, also known as “The Fat Jew,” had real dads walk the runway for his show at the New York Fashion Week. His collection featured “dadbod” clothes, too, such as sensible walking shoes, khakis, and pajamas. Ostroversky told Yahoo Style that he wanted to highlight regular dads with very normal bodies, something the fashion industry has never seen before. Home videos played on a projector screen in the background, and songs from Bon Jovi, The Eagles and Rod Stewart played as the dads strutted their stuff on an artificial grass-covered runway.
