After a motorcycle accident, Matt Davis had a mere 10% chance of recovery. He was left comatose and on life support. The doctors advised his wife, Danielle Josey Davis, to pull the plug on him, but she ignored them.
“If he’s going to be a body in bed, let’s give him something to look at,” said Danielle, who had only been married to Matt for seven months when the 2010 accident happened.
And then the miracle happened.
Danielle started noticing that Matt had regained his eye movement. Soon when she asked him what he wanted to eat, he whispered in reply, “Buffalo chicken wrap from Cheddar’s,” – his favorite meal! That’s when she knew that his personality was intact.
The sad part is, although her husband is still the same man she loved, he had lost parts of his memory, including the ones with her in them. He doesn’t remember dating Danielle or even marrying her.
Today, the couple are doing yoga together and playing chess. Little by little, Matt is recovering. And, he’s also getting to know and falling in love with his wife all over again.
