It's back to school this coming August, but not only that: face-to-face classes are now certainly happening, too! The Department of Education (DepEd) recently announced August 22, 2022 as the start of School Year 2022-2023 and imposed return of face-to-face classes on November 2, 2022.
That's right -- whether or not your child goes to a public or private school, DepEd has made 5-day in-person classes mandatory across the board. (Only DepEd-approved Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) such as the MIMOSA, e-IMPACT, and homeschooling programs may continue with their specific approaches.)
So this means that the laptops and distance learning spaces you invested in will only be useful until October 31, 2022. Kids will be going back into classrooms, with open doors and open windows (for ventilation) all day. While parents, especially those working at home, may be frustrated with the return to commute and even rising school service prices (lahat nalang!), you have to admit you might miss the little ones, right?
Well, here are some important dates to look forward to based on the official school year Calendar of Activities that the DepEd released. Para sa mga bibong mommy at daddy na na-miss din maging competitive with other parents, you'll also find the school activities to prepare for! (Ihanda ang mga terno for Buwan ng Wika!)
Unfortunately, DepEd also said no extra-curricular activities for now, so there won't be any field trips. But at least you have all the more reason to plan a family vacation whenever there's a school holiday.

DepEd Calendar of Activities for SY 2022 - 2023
According to DepEd Order (DO) No. 034, which was signed into effect by Vice-President and DepEd Secretary Sara Z. Duterte:
Classes are immediately suspended during observances of regular and special national holidays as stipulated by the law, as well as, local holidays which have been duly declared by law or Presidential Proclamation.
Besides the 9 prescribed regular and special holidays, SY 2022-2023 will have a two-week Christmas break and 1-week midyear break. The Islamic holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, have not yet been announced. In total, there are 203 school days this coming year.
