Summer Programs for the Shy Child

When your child is shy, it’s challenging to have him or her participate in group activities, team sports, and other social functions that require them to be around people. How do you choose summer classes that would fit their introverted ways? 

The way to get him or her to come out of their shell is to help them to trust those around them, and it starts with being able to feel safe and in a non-competitive, non-judgemental environment. It will help your shy child feel safe to show their true colors, gain more confidence in their strengths, and have the ability to trust others. 
Here are a few summer programs that might just do that: 

Atlantis Musical Theater Workshops 
For ages: 7 – 12 years old  
What to expect: Gaining confidence in themselves might just help your shy one to come into their own. The ability of being comfortable on stage and performing in front of an audience might build your child’s self-esteem! The workshop will teach your child how to act, sing, and dance for musical theater, taught by those who have been part of Atlantis for years.

PETA Workshop Express 
For ages: 6 and up 
What to expect: The Philippine Educational Theater Association, or PETA, will be holding their annual summer workshop! Their courses include Children’s Theater and Creative Musical Theater for Children. Their confidence will be boosted with a performance by the end of the workshop!

What to expect: The famed Philippine Madrigal Singers are holding workshops for those who have got the voice, but are looking into honing the skill while still having fun!

Mcdonald’s Kiddie Crew 
For ages: 6 – 12 years old (4-5 year olds need to submit a letter of intent to the store manager)
What to expect: Kids will get to experience how it’s like to work at Mcdonald’s, from helping out at the drive-thru to serving fast food to customers! It teaches children the value of hard work, independence, and having fun while working.

Junior Astronaut Academy 
For ages: 7 – 10 years old 
What to expect: For budding astronauts, this will be a dream come true! They’ll get to feel what it’s like to be in under zero gravity, learn the basic skills of a proper astronaut, and be given a space mission to accomplish—how great is that!

Roots and Wings 
For ages: 5 – 10 years old 
What to expect: Introducing nature to children is easier when they can experience it themselves, and that’s what Roots and Wings is all about. In four days at the Organic Farm in Lipa, Batangas, children will get to plant, harvest, care for animals, create arts and crafts, and much more!

The Archery Academy
