Get a Free Screening Session to Check for Developmental Delay This July

While kids reach their milestones at different paces, you as the parent will be the first to notice if you something is amiss in your child's development. If you suspect that your child may be experiencing a learning or developmental delay, bring him to a pediatrician as soon as possible because early intervention is vital. And there may be time still to bring him to the National TheraFree program of the University of the Philippines College of Allied Medical Professions Alumni Association (UP-CAMPAA).

The UP-CAMPAA holds the National Therafree Celebrations every year in July in commemoration of National Disability Month. Throughout the month, the organization provides free screening sessions to check for developmental and behavioral conditions in young children. These sessions are held in therapy centers all over the country and are carried out by volunteer therapists.

Aside from free screening sessions, the organization will provide home programs that are crafted according to the needs of the clients. Similarly, parents and guardians are taught how to do different therapeutic techniques to help augment the condition of their children.

“For clients/families just starting with the intervention, they will be guided/assisted on [specific] steps they could do for the continuation (ex. recommendations for securing regular therapy sessions from centers/intervention providers) of their sessions,” UP-CAMPAA tells SmartParenting.com.ph in a Facebook Messenger interview.
