Distance learning, also called distance education, is a form of education where the students can complete the course without being physically present in a classroom. The course materials are typically delivered digitally through online classes or through live conferencing.
Distance education programs do not usually involve daily virtual classes held on video conferencing apps. As one dad relates based on his children's distance learning experience (read more here), kids learn at their own pace and rely heavily on self-discipline. A teacher will check a child's progress and be available for consultation.
Distance learning has been successfully used in higher education (UP Open University is considered distance education). It has been popular among full-time workers, military personnel, and individuals who cannot attend classroom lectures due to time or location limitations.
