Summer classes are a fun way to keep your kids engaged while they take a break from school but there are some classes that feel like you’re just putting your kids back inside the classroom. The workshops below are definitely not run-of-the-mill, and it’s a chance for your children to discover their talents and learn new skills. Best part — you’ll never hear them say, “Mom, I’m bored!”
Interesting summer workshops for preschoolers
Art and play workshops at Happy Camp
Located inside a mall in the South, Happy Camp offers a number of activities to keep your kids distracted (and away from their gadgets) for a couple of hours each day. There are art and science workshops (one involves creating their own slime!) but for their summer offering, it’s all about art and play.
Art and Play is a workshop for kids ages 3 to 4 years old, while Basic Painting is for kids ages 5 and up.
Duration of classes: A total of 5 sessions every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 nn or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. starting April 1

Overnight camp by the Mind Museum
While technically not a workshop, it’s an activity your science-loving kids would not want to miss — and you can take the whole family along for the ride! You’ll get to see Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and more up close using a telescope and sleep under the stars! There are also arts and craft activities like making star lamps.
Duration of classes: Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. to Sunday, March 31 at 12 p.m.
Venue: Ten Cents to Heaven, Tanay, Rizal
Rates: Regular rate is at Php3,800 per person. Adults must accompany children 16 years old and below. Register until March 21 and get an early bird rate of Php3,500 per person.

Yes, even your young tots can learn the fundamentals of coding through Young Coders PH’s Scratch Jr. class. Explore basic coding concepts through the kid-friendly programming language of Scratch Jr. Classes are open to kids ages 3 to 5.

Discover science at Mind Museum
The summer edition of Mind Museum’s Junior Mind Mover Program allows kids to go behind the scenes of the museum’s galleries and exhibits for an exciting introduction to different kinds of science. Their TOTS program is geared for kids ages 4 to 6, where they will learn science through stories, crafts, and play. Expect your kids to learn the science of colors, the wonders of the solar system, how their senses work, understanding weather, and how engineers build planes, trains, and boats, among others.
Duration of classes: March 26, 28, 30 – April 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parents’ Orientation Session is on March 23, Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
