The mompreneurs: Vicki Leyson Bitanga used to work as an Account Executive for an insurance company in Los Angeles and is currently working on real estate projects, while Ines Cacho del Rosario used to work in advertising and is currently running a laundry business. Vicki is wife to Tiger and mom to Tiger Christian (4) and Gabrielle Anya (1), while Ines is wife to Marvin and mom to Yzabella Simone (3) and and Amaia Solenne (1).
The story: Vicki says, “Ines and I became friends while we were living in the States, and moved back to Manila with our families in the same year. Last year, Ines and I got pregnant within one month of each other, and to make things even more coincidental, we gave birth on the same day, April 1st... yes, April Fool's! We checked into the same hospital, too.”
The business idea: “After giving birth, we realized the lack of organic products in the Philippines, and since we both like California Baby, a line of organic skincare made by a mom as well, we decided to bring it in. We have an extensive line of products covering your needs from head to toe, which are all safe for babies, kids, and sensitive adults. From there, we decided to branch out to producing our own line of baby shoes, called Jellybaby, made specifically for babies up to 18 months of age.”

What they do: “Since California Baby is imported from the States, we are very hands-on from placing the order, to shipping, to checking the orders upon arrival, and distributing to the different stores. We are also responsible for checking with the stores on what's selling, and updating their inventory.”
Crowd favorites: “Our bestsellers are the bug repellant sprays and lotions, which are the perfect anti-dengue protection against mosquitoes. Most customers also swear by the Calendula cream, which treats eczema.”
Mompreneur advice: “Business and family is a constant juggling act, but when done right, will eventually balance out. Hire and train help if necessary and eventually your business will run itself.”
Where you can reach them: California Baby organic skincare products are available at Rustan’s (Makati, Gateway, Alabang, and Cebu), Beauty Bar (Rockwell, Podium, and Eastwood), Manila Polo Club, and Discovery Shores in Boracay.
