“Growing up, sinabi ko naman yun. Never judge, really, it’s really up to them kung sino yung magugustuhan nila talaga.”
In a recent interview with Smart Parenting, Aga Muhlach opened up about his perspective on his children’s love lives. Aga and wife Charlene Gonzalez have two kids, 22-year-old twins Atasha and Andres, who are both dipping their toes in showbiz. Atasha is currently part of the noontime show, E.A.T, since September 2023. Andres, on the other hand, will be part of the family’s upcoming sitcom on TV5.
Aga admits that while he wouldn’t meddle, because he himself hated that while growing up, he would still try to guide the twins throughout the journey.
“Hindi naman ako mangingielam, hindi naman ako nangingielam, but of course, you are really just there to guide them. I say this because I was the same way growing up. Ayaw ko na may masyadong nangingielam sa akin. But if my parents or good friends, the friends I trust, tell me things about this girl, or ganyan or ganyan, then sometimes you listen.”
“When you get hurt sa puso, it hurts”
Aga admits that they don’t really talk about their love lives.
“I don’t really, we don’t really talk about their love lives. Parang I don’t want to be influencing them on that. Parang if it happens, it’s gonna happen. So at least, parang, o, wala akong kinalaman dyan, ano? Meaning hindi ko sila kinakausap tungkol doon.”
However, he shares that when they do ask him questions, most of his advice is based on his own experiences growing up.
“But when they ask me questions, of course, I just talk about my experience growing up.”
Aga also said that he knows his boundaries and encourages the twins to decide for themselves.
“[But] I always tell them, at the end of the day, whatever we say naman, you know, guidance niyo lang naman yun, hindi niyo rin naman kami susundin. Parang gagawin niyo rin yung sarili niyong desisyon.
“So at least, if you listen a little, and if you get hurt at some point, then at least you know already, ‘Ah this is what Dad told me about,’ you know? This is what they mentioned about this thing, this journey. Hopefully, they know how to handle it.
“But really, when you get hurt sa puso, it hurts. So they will experience that.”
