Ameer’s Touch: Handmade Scented SoapsThese soaps are made from one mom’s love for her baby angel.by Emilie N. Lucena .
Name of Mompreneur: Valerie “Ace” Vergabera
Her Business Idea: Offering a variety of handmade soaps with beneficial properties is something Ace discovered she loved to do. She is also able to help her customers and re-sellers by making her soaps very affordable.
How it all started: Ace put up her soap business as a means to keep herself busy as she heals from the pain she felt when her newborn passed away just barely a year ago. She named her business Ameer, after her son, and finds the inspiration to make it a success in memory of her baby boy.
Ameer soaps are mostly sold online and are currently a hit as wedding give-aways. For as low as P5, one can purchase a small heart-shaped soap. The mini heart customized soaps carry various scents such as vanilla, choco caramel, powdery fresh, chocolate, angel’s breath and strawberry. Popular variants of the regular soaps are tea tree, honey oatmeal and peppermint and cost P50 to P60 each.
Ace is happy that she is able to help other people through her business. She keeps her costs down and supports her re-sellers who are mostly single moms or mothers looking to make extra money to support their families.
Why being a mom is the greatest: When Ace was little, she was often asked what she wanted to be when she grew up and she would always reply, “I want to be a mom.” Since she was five years old, she knew in heart that being a mother is what she always dreamt of being. “Being a mom makes me feel complete,” Ace states. “Other people have ambitious goals of getting promoted in their careers but my definition of success is having happy and contented children.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
