Name of Mompreneur: Anne Roman

Her Business Idea: Simplifun takes out the complexity in organizing parties and replaces it with immense fun!  

The Unique Business Concept: The industry I am in is not unique as there are a lot of party shops mushrooming.  But Simplifun makes each peso you spend worth it.  We provide honest service - what you see is what you get.  We tell our customers what is needed and what isn't.  We know that they have a budget but want to give their child the best party possible.  We make sure this happens.  

How it all started: I did my child's first birthday party because I found other party organizers to be expensive.  My friends told me that I did a fantastic job and should consider putting up a party organizing business.  Encouragement from them prompted me to set up Simplifun in 2008.  It was so successful that my husband resigned from his job this year to help me do it full time.  

Future Plans: I am considering doing Simplifun full-time in the near future.  We already started implementing our plans to expand by owning food carts.  Perhaps next year I will be able to put my other plans into place to make Simplifun grow and be able to offer more services to our clients.  Wait and see!  

Why being a mom is the greatest: My kids are my greatest joy and inspiration!  I have a 6-year old boy and a 3-year old girl.  When I come home from a busy day at work and see their smiles, hear their stories and receive their hugs, I feel energized again.  All the hard work that I do is really for them.  I want my children to have a good future, to do well in whatever they choose to pursue and to live comfortably without being envious of others.

On work-life balance: I'm still working full-time so balancing a corporate job with family and a business can be quite overwhelming.  But I always ensure that my priority is my family.  I want to be there for my kids while they are young.  I know I cannot bring back the years I miss so I want to be there to see them grow up first hand.  

My husband is a great partner in helping me with the business and the kids.  Our friends are amazed at the fact that we never really depended on a yaya.  I am very lucky to have a husband who is an enormous help.  We are both hands-on parents.  My husband also shares my interests and is always there to support me.  

Advice for aspiring mompreneurs: Be a "go-getter".  Know what you want and have a "can do" attitude.  Don't be afraid to take a risk and grab opportunities.  Be bold but be prepared to also accept the responsibilities that come with the risk.  Be focused on your dreams.  You'll succeed if you believe in yourself.
