Chat Gabrera-Gadia of Paolo's Home Baked GoodiesLove, dedication, and a heritage of tried and tested recipes make this SP mompreneur and hands-on mom Chat Gabrera-Gadia’s home baked goodies a certified treat.by SmartParenting Staff .
The SP mompreneur: Ma. Charito “Chat” Cabrera – Gadia
The business: Paolo’s Home Baked Goodies
The Idea: Paolo’s Home Baked Goodies is an online and home-based bakeshop that specializes in made to order customized cakes and pastries. Chat says the light bulb moment happened when her son had his 1st birthday party. The carrot cupcakes she made were such a hit with the guests the rest, as they say, is history. What’s even more inspiring about this SP Mompreneur is that she still manages the business while working full time. Her family has been a big contributing factor with keeping the business alive and successful. Her mom, siblings, husband and even her 2-year-old toddler Paolo Miguel, help her meet deadlines and other.
Why the product is unique: “Our family has been baking tried and tested recipes since the 70s, [so] quality is very important to us,” says Chat. “I treat each and every order as if it is I who ordered it. I believe that if it’s not good enough for my family, then it’s not good enough to be sold to my customers.”
It doesn’t hurt as well that Chat is extremely attentive to details, making it easier to be attuned to what her customers want. Since her business is online, they are open to doing meet-ups and at times they also do deliveries and make sure that their customers get their goodies in good condition.
On balancing career and family time: “This has always been a big challenge for me since I also work full time in a call center,” admits Chat. “But I’m blessed to have a supportive family that includes my mom and my sisters so I can meet the demands of my business and still be a hands-on mommy and wife.”ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
Whenever Chat receives bulk orders, almost everyone in the family helps out. She sees to it that her order deadlines are drafted ahead of time, while her husband plays the role of the hands-on dad.
“Life may be what we make it, but for things that we are unable to control it doesn’t hurt to get lucky. And I am just so lucky with the man I married.”
Advice/tips for other SP mompreneurs:
“Trust your instincts and don't be afraid to fuel your passion. If you love what you do, everything else will fall into place.”“Be patient. It's one virtue you will need intact from start to finish.”“Smile and have fun! It will lessen the stress.”
Why she loves being a mom: “I love being a mom, because it makes me want to be the best in almost everything. It showed me what unconditional love truly means. Just a glimpse of my son smiling, a hug, a kiss and it feels like heaven on earth. He truly made our lives worth living.”
