‘High Blood Agad!’: Parents Share Their Children's First Day Of School

Academic school year 2021-2022 officially started Monday, September 13, 2021, marking the second year of distance learning of over 24 million enrolled students, according to the Department of Education.

DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones celebrated the “victory and success” of the school opening, but what about the moms and dads who have to deal with the children at home? Did they also experience a 'first day high'?

First day of school stories

On our parenting community, Smart Parenting Village, one mom shared her child's first day of school and naturally, a lot of parents could relate! The comments section was quickly flooded with stories, not just from mothers but from dads as well.

“Sana all excited! Trial class pa nga lang ng kambal ko, para na akong maloloka. Pati yata yung teacher nila na-stress ng very light sa kanila!” — Kathleen A.

“First day of school sa daycare. Excited sana ako pero nung nalaman ko na magbabayad ako ng 300 pesos, plus 50 pesos weekly na ako rin magtuturo dahil walang face-to-face classes, back out muna kami. Better luck next school year!” — Thina D.

 “First day of school, grade 4 na anak. He does well without my supervision, especially today na nasa hospital ako to be with my mom. Mag-isa talaga siya mag-aral. Check ko na lang later if ano ‘yung daily output niya!” — Angelyn P.

“Same with my boys! Dalawa high school ko, no supervision need na. Bunso is grade 5, less supervision na rin, pero minsan chinecheck ko at nakakatulog sa class minsan!” — Cheska C.
