“No sleep, constantly breastfeeding, trying to split myself into 3, and finding time to shower and eat.”
Is how vlogger mom Kryz Uy described her life lately as a mom of a newborn again.
She admits that having a newborn, plus two little boys can be overwhelming at times but shares a mindset shift that helps her get through this stage of motherhood.
Kryz Uy’s Advice For Surviving The Newborn Mom Stage
Kryz and her husband, Slater Young, welcomed their third baby boy, Saxon Kent, on June 22, making their Skyfam a family of five.
In her most recent vlog, Kryz shared a glimpse of her life two weeks postpartum, which is mostly marked by sleepless nights—a common experience for most, if not all, newborn moms. She’s also in the process of adapting and learning to split her time between her three boys, which she says "can get overwhelming sometimes."
Recounting these struggles, Kryz humorously mentions that, in order to adapt to the changes, the “key is accepting your misery.” But there's a grain of truth in her advice.
She adds, “The less you fight it, the earlier you accept na wala ka talagang tulog, hindi ka talaga makalabas, the happier I guess you’ll be overall, because you won’t be constantly feeling bad about not being able to do these things.”
Instead of focusing on the things she can’t do, Kryz shifts her perspective to see things in a more positive light.
“I decided to shift my mindset to think, 'Wow, I get to be here for my kids.' I'll be able to spend the rest of my life working or going out with friends, but this is the only time I will spend with them at this age—and my goodness, I'm here for it!” she shared.
It's such a powerful message to convey to other moms who are in the same season of motherhood, might be feeling left out and drained by their mommy duties. Often, new mothers can feel isolated, burdened by the seemingly endless routine of feeding, changing diapers, and managing household chores that consume their daily lives. It's easy to feel like you're losing yourself amidst it all.
Kryz's reminder is one every mom should hear: to embrace the struggles and find pockets of joy in making the most of this precious, limited time with the kids.
It's important to acknowledge that these early years, though really, incredibly challenging, are also fleeting. The sleepless nights and constant demands won't last forever, and soon, your kids will grow out of this stage. But by shifting your perspective, you can begin to appreciate the small, beautiful moments - the first smiles, the warm cuddles, and even the routine that feels like a riot that comes with small children.
Kryz's message isn't just about surviving through the challenges; it's finding a way to thriving in them. By embracing the hard times, along with the support of your loved ones (of course!) and cherishing the small moments of joy, you can flip the newborn stage from a period of mere endurance to one of the most heartwarming moment of your motherhood.
Sky Fam Keeps Family Photo Tradition
Kryz also share some behind the scenes from their first photoshoot as a family of 5 with Smart Parenting Mom, and family photographer Dyan Dy-Gayas.
Dyan has been taking photos of Skyfam since Kryz and Slater welcomed their panganay, Scottie! Look at the evolution of their family portraits:
"This first photoshoot by Dyan is now a tradition and family staple. We get one done every 2 years because apparently, I give birth every 2 years hahaha. What do you think of the photos? We love them!," Kryz shared.
