The Idea: I wanted to give my little girl the best, and yes, that includes hair accessories. I could not find the “right” ones locally so I started purchasing a couple abroad. Being crafty by nature, I decided to make the hair accessories myself. My ideas started to grow exponentially and that led to creating “Sassy Hairsies.” I only make pieces that I would want my daughter to wear. I make sure I make them with quality in mind. Now, I want to share these hair accessories that are equally great as those we can find abroad, but at a friendlier price. My idea is to have as much babies out there wearing Sassy Hairsies.

What makes it unique: We provide 100% handmade hair accessories for girls from infant to adult. We offer customization with most of the pieces that we offer. We can make a different color of some flowers, make the headband size larger or smaller, use a different material… Whatever our clients need, we do our best to provide it. We only use imported, high quality and genuine materials from the headbands to the embellishments we use. We also offer the widest variety of hairsies out there from silk flowers to our very own hand crafted ones, from fabric to ribbons.

Why she loves being a mom: I love that feeling of responsibility for one human being. Not just for a week or a month but for a lifetime. It is stressful at times, but at the end of the day, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. It gives me a reason to wake up the next morning. I also love feeling how much she loves and needs me. That smile, and that gesture of leaning her head on my shoulder makes every little thing worth it.

On her inspiration: Each piece in our collection is named after someone I know. I get inspiration from anyone or anything I see every day. Honestly, my mind works faster than my hands. I have a lot of ideas but I still need time to complete all my ideas. But my ultimate inspiration is my little angel. Either to match her clothes, her shoes or her mood, I can always whip something up “for” her.

On balancing work with family time: My weekends are off limits for work especially my day job. I do a few hairsies here and there if I tuck Ysabella to bed early. I make it a point we (my husband and I) spend our weekends relaxing, recharging and having a family activity we can do with Ysabella. The basic idea is that we’re spending quality time with the family.

Advice for aspiring mompreneurs: Start with the business as a hobby inspired by your daily routine. In that way, you will feel no pressure at all. I still do not consider my shop a success story – but I know it has to start somewhere. So, start small. One day, I am sure we will be surprised by how far we have gone.
