WATCH: How Well Do Pinoy Kids Understand Tagalog?

  • You've probably received your child's report card by now, and if you're like majority of Filipino parents, then you know the struggle kids have when it comes to two subjects: HeKaSi (Heograpiya, Kasaysayan, at Sibika) and Filipino -- not because the lessons are difficult to grasp, but because of the language in which they are taught -- in Filipino, or Tagalog.

    In commemoration of Philippine Independence Day, we thought we'd ask a handful of young kids if they could take a guess on the meaning of some Tagalog words, all of which can be found in popular Filipino children's storybooks. They seemed intimidated at first, but we're glad to know most of them did really well. Watch:
