Anne Curtis takes pride in being a "super hands-on" mom to Dahlia Amelie, her two-year-old daughter with husband Erwan Heussaff.
The lockdowns during the pandemic turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the 37-year-old star.
"It really gave me an opportunity to focus on being a mother and a wife," Anne told the press in an interview last Tuesday, August 9, 2022, during her launch as the newest ambassador of Prime Video streaming app held at The Fifth at Rockwell in Makati City.
Among the things that Anne and Erwan were able to teach Dahlia was how to be independent at an early age.
Anne told the press, "[Dahlia] is clingy but we also made her independent. Like, she can independently play.
"So hindi super clingy, but now, she’s more aware when we're leaving the house."
This independence that she sees in Dahlia has helped the Kapamilya actress and host slowly make her showbiz comeback.
She said, "I think the reason why I also waited this long is at least now, meron na siyang mga classes.
"That’s why nakakapag-Showtime ako during her class. So may social life na rin siya. So I think, that’s why I’m slowly preparing her…
"And also, like, her papa goes to office na whereas before, work from home, di ba? Ayun, may kaunting normalcy na, na bumabalik sa [amin]."

As parents, Anne, a Filipina-Australian mom, and Erwan, a Filipino-French dad, have been practicing a mix of Filipino and French styles of parenting.
She said, "I think it’s a mix of both. A mix of both talaga. There’s an understanding between Erwan and I."
Anne did not elaborate how, but laughlingly, she further recalled, "Minsan nga nagta-Taglish na sabi ko, ‘Naku, lumalabas na yung pagka-Anne Curtis niya,’ [like], ‘Can I upo here?’"
Limiting their daughter's screen time, for example, is one of the many things they have agreed on. But they do allow Dahlia to watch TV shows or YouTube videos from time to time.
The Kapamilya actress/host said, "Right now, she doesn’t have a lot of screen time. Pero, siguro, whenever she does get the chance, it’s The Wiggles kasi.
"As much as possible, actually, none. We allow [it] if we’re on the plane."

Anne answered, "Yung singer alam na niya. Feeling niya kasing-ganda ko yung boses ni Elsa."
On parenting: Everyone has a unique journey
Anne also told the press, she received a piece of parenting advice from her mom Carmen Ojales that she was really able to put into practice when she became a mother.
Anne said, "I think the best parenting tip that I got from my mom is that… she told me that I will have my own unique journey when it comes to parenting, and that it won’t always be right [for others], but it’s the right way for me.
"Parang, how do I explain it ba? Yung pagkasabi niya kasi na hindi naman kasi lagi tama, pero for you it will be right.
"Parang it won’t be perfect in other people’s [eyes], pero it’s your journey as a mother. So don’t let it affect you if people say something."
