Readability Center’s 2011 Seminar Series for Teachers

Parents may not realize it, but their child’s poor performance in school could be attributed to or associated with an existing reading difficulty.

While some send their children off to tutorial centers in the hopes of boosting their grades, the problem may actually lie in an undetected reading difficulty. While tutors may help in providing assistance in understanding and accomplishing homework, it’s always a good idea to consult experts to come up with the best aid for your child.

Here are seminars from Readability Center that provide educators with classroom techniques and teaching styles that determine and enhance reading difficulties in children for improved performance, vocabulary and comprehension.


The Importance of a Reading Assessment
First off, determine the level of reading difficulty that your child is at. This seminar from Readability Center brings together a reading specialist, a developmental pediatrician, a parent and teacher to discuss the importance of a reading assessment to help your child overcome learning difficulties.

Part 1: Focus on Word Reading, Spelling Difficulties and Oral Reading Fluency
This seminar is for teachers on how to upgrade their teaching knowledge and skills in order to identify and properly correct common reading and writing difficulties. Aspects such as word reading, oral reading fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension will be discussed.

Teaching Reading in the Content Areas
