Toddlers are notorious for their never-ending curiosity and their hunger for knowledge:
“Mommy, what’s this?”
“Saan galing to?”
“Can I touch this?”
Their brains are rapidly developing and everything they see feels like a scientific discovery. Everything is exciting for them, even the most mundane things in the house.
So imagine the awe and excitement a refrigerator brings–a closed box with doors you can open and close, with light inside, cool temperature, and different types of storage. Bonus: There is a lot of food, too!
It’s like the wardrobe door going to Narnia, a different world full of magic!
It’s no wonder that toddlers always explore the magical refrigerator, and will even try to put anything inside.
Moms, dads and parents shared their own funny “ref moments” on Smart Parenting's Facebook page after we asked, "Ganito rin ba laman ng ref niyo, mga ka #ToddlerLife?

Lots of other parents attested that their cellphones have been hidden inside the ref, too. Maybe toddlers think that putting it in the fridge can help it cool down after all the watching they've done on it.
Sometimes, they just love the idea of opening the door and seeing the light turn on and off:

But they couldn't change their plans. "Ang ginawa namin, iniwan na lang namin na hindi naka-lock ang bahay. Pag uwi, nauhaw. Pagbukas ng ref, yung susi nasa lalagyan ng water,” she said.
Toddlers really have a way of giving parents mixed emotions: a good laugh for the surprise and irritation because they shouldn’t have done it.
And the finale on the list: if the toddler has already tried putting in toys, cellphones, keys, they’ll try if they can fit inside:
