Scarlet Snow and Olivia Show Why a Toy Microphone Is a Good IdeaThis simple toy has wonderful developmental benefits. Plus, a toy that can help improve concentration.
While toys entertain our kids to no end, they're also tools of play, which is one of the best ways our kids learn. Here are two that have become popular lately.

Olivia, on the other hand, oozes charm as she sends out greetings with her microphone. With dad GP Reyes behind the camera, Olivia welcomes her pretend audience to her room and invites them to read books with her. Cute!
We’ve already suggested a bunch of toys that can encourage your child to talk, and a microphone is a good one to add to the list. Toys that allow interaction between child and parent are top choices when looking into developing your little one's language skills, Cristina A. Aligada, M.A., principal of Laro, Lapis at Libro, Inc., a special school in Marikina and consultant for Special Education told SmartParenting.com.ph.
A portable microphone is a great opportunity for toddlers to express themselves and show off their individuality. Italso has developmental benefits for babies, such as auditory stimulation, imaginative play, motor skills, and role play. Aligada added that parents should also look into toys that allow kids to record themselves, so look for that feature when scouting for your kiddie mic.

Many kids (particularly those in elementary school) are getting into so-called “fidget toys.” These small gizmos come in different designs: one you can spin, another that come in a cube-shape and have buttons and switches, and another is shaped like a mini game controller. All have one purpose: so the user can have something to play around with while trying to focus on something else.
It may seem like an odd suggestion, but fidget spinners actually had its start as aide for kids with attention disorders like ADD and ADHD. The toy had been found to help improve concentration.
“For some people [with ADHD], there's a need for constant stimulation,” Elaine Taylor-Klaus told CNN. She is a co-founder of ImpactADHD, a coaching service for children with attention disorders and their parents.
“What a fidget allows some people -- not all people -- with ADHD to do is to focus their attention on what they want to focus on, because there's sort of a background motion that's occupying that need,” explained Taylor-Klaus.
If you have a child with special needs, consult with his doctor before getting him one. The flip side is many kids abroad have joined the craze, and it has gotten to a point where the toy is slowly being banned from classrooms.
