Derek reveals he and Ellen suffered a miscarriage: ‘We lost the baby’
Actor Derek Ramsay has revealed that he and Ellen lost their first baby during a trip to Spain.
“Nung nasa Spain kami, unfortunately we lost the baby,” Ramsay told reporters during a press conference on Monday, December 11, for his upcoming film, ‘Kampon.’
It was also in Spain where they first found out about Ellen’s pregnancy.
“She’s never delayed. she knew something was up, she got herself tested when we were there, she’s positive. [It was] a great gift for us, my mom.”
Ramsay said shortly after finding out they were pregnant, Ellen had spotting. He did not specify how far along Ellen was, but mentioned that she was most likely pregnant “for a few weeks.”
“She’s okay, ako medyo lutang,” he said, when probed about how they are taking the sad news.
Based on a video uploaded by ABS-CBN News, Derek broke the sad news while responding to a query about other projects he will accept. Derek revealed that he was postponing work to focus on building a bigger family with his wife.
“Right now, focused kami ni Ellen na magka-baby so ‘pag nangyari yun medyo malabo na tatanggap ako ng project kasi very hands-on ako mag-alaga.
“When the time comes, gusto ko ako mag-aalaga sa kaniya,” Ramsay also said.
Derek said he was somehow happy that they were able to successfully get pregnant immediately after the successful removal of Ellen’s IUD.
“To be honest, worried ako kasi medyo tumatanda na tayo, akala ko baog ako,” he also said, optimistic that he and Ellen will welcome a baby soon.
The pregnancy would have been Ellen’s second child, and her first with Ramsay.
