  • Aubrey Miles' pregnancy journey with her youngest child, Rocket, began with two miscarriages. It was an experience she admits "devastated" her.

The little girl, who is turning 3 this coming December 2021, is an answered prayer for Aubrey and her partner, Troy Montero.

"We tried siguro twice... So, she's really a plan — we really planned to have a third baby," Aubrey shared in an exclusive interview with SmartParenting.com.ph.

Before Rocket, Aubrey was already a mom to two boys, Maurie and Hunter. By her mid-30s Aubrey felt she was ready for a new baby, but what she did not expect was this wish would not be granted right away.

    Aubrey experienced two miscarriages

Aubrey, who is in her 40s now, recounted what it felt like going through two pregnancy losses before welcoming their "dream baby" Rocket.

"Before her (Rocket), I had two miscarriages na talagang sobrang devastated ako. Like, is that possible? I'm only what?...Back then, siguro mga 36, 37 ako, sabi ko, 'This is not high risk, it's still okay.'"

Despite the two miscarriages, Aubrey's yearning to have another baby did not falter. Although she admits she questioned whether or not her body can still live up to her dream.

"For me, as a young mom tapos biglang 36, nahirapan na ko. Sabi ko, 'Is that possible?.' So, I was parang confused bakit gano'n. Then, the second time (miscarriage) again. So sabi ko, 'Yun na ba 'yun? That's it for me?' sabi ko 'Hindi naman siguro," Aubrey recalls.

Pregnancy loss could be desolating and going through it twice could be a lot more disheartening. Despite what happened, Aubrey and Troy were still hoping to be blessed with another baby. They maintained a positive attitude and held on to their faith through prayers.

"Noong third time talaga, 'yung parang hindi naman naggi-give up pero ito yung point na, sabi ko, 'You know what, kung mayroon, mayroon... Let's just do it pero let's not try so hard,' parang ganun na iiyak na kami.

"So talagang prayers, of course, we prayed for her (Rocket)," Aubrey shared.

    Aubrey's answered prayer

"I will do anything and everything. Please, let me hold this."

This is what Aubrey said when she prayed after seeing another positive pregnancy test. Given what she's been through, Aubrey decided to keep the pregnancy private during the first four months.

She also kept her word when she said she would do anything and everything to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

"Healthy naman daw ako, it's just that parang double care and extra, extra care kami. Hindi ako lumalabas, hindi naman sensitive yung pregnancy noong time na 'yun. Medyo ano lang, umarte lang ako sa sarili ko just because 'yun 'yung gusto ko talaga. Sabi ko, 'This is it! I will do everything kahit mag-stay [indoors] ako," Aubrey shared.

All of those additional efforts weren't in vain. Their "rainbow baby" Rocket now brings so much joy to Aubrey and the whole family. The fitness mom says having a baby girl after two boys brings a delightful change in their lives.

"Oh my God! After how many tries, nandiyan na siya. And she's curly. And iba yun, kasi siya yung -- I think, wala namang curly sa family namin, si Troy lang. So, super nag-e-enjoy kami sa kaniya kasi literally, kapag tinititigan mo siya, mukha siyang manika," Aubrey tells Smart Parenting.

"'Yung may mga pastel colors na kami. So sabi ko, 'Ay! Nakakabuhay din pala ng mata yun. Nakaka-enjoy din.' Siguro 'yun 'yung positive na nabigay niya. It brightens the house, the vibe," she adds.
