Iya Villania can't forget turning quite emotional after giving birth, on July 18, 2020, to her and her husband Drew Arellano's third child and only girl, Alana. She comes after Primo, 5, and Leon, 3.
"Ang iyak ko, grabe," the actress-TV host said during the recent online event for the baby care products she endorses, Babyflo. Her heart was filled with joy seeing Alana, and her head with these thoughts: "Finally, matatapos ko na ang panganganak na ’to kasi hindi siya madali."
One-and-a-half years later, on January 3, 2022, Iya announced that she's pregnant for the fourth time (read here).
Looking back now, she said, "Akala namin hanggang tatlo lang kami," and went on sharing a bit of her conversation with her husband: "Paano tayo nakarating dito?" She then explained, "Marami na ang tatlo. You are already outnumbered. Dalawa lang kayong mom and dad, ’tapos pag dalawa lang [na anak], puwedeng tag-isa lang. Pag tatlo, outnumbered na talaga."
But no complaints, Iya pointed out. "The energy, the love, the joy...you’d like to have more kids. Getting kids is a trap. You will want to have more."
That's why the Chika Minute anchor gave an open-ended answer when asked about the number of kids she and her husband will have. She explained, "No’ng wala pang Primo, sabi ko, lima. No’ng may Primo na, sabi ko, ‘Ang hirap pala pag may anak.’
"Sabi ko, okay na sa dalawa. E biglang nabuntis at naging babae, so tatlo. Then we saw them growing up, wala na... We talk about it. Pero hindi namin tinutuldukan."
For her fourth pregnancy, Iya said she's not really making any preparations, unlike the first time around. "As you go with the succeeding babies, you realize, ‘Ay, hindi ko pala ito kailangan.’"
Case in point: "‘Yung crib namin, buti na lang hiniram lang namin. Kay Primo ko lang siya nagamit, at nagamit ko lang s’ya sa pictorial. After no’n, I returned to sender kasi ’yung totoo, we all sleep together. Hindi namin kailangan [ang crib]." (Read here on newborn essentials.)
She added, "Sayang, that space could’ve been an added drawer or cabinet. Rather than hindi naman gagamitin…By now, alam na alam ko na kung ano ang kailangan ko lang. Kailangan ko lang halungktin ang baby boy clothes. Kasi siyempre sa ibabaw, baby girl clothes."
Yes, Iya and Drew are having another baby boy come June!
