Have you cried over something petty or silly when you were pregnant like a craving you didn't get, or a song that played in the radio?

Crying during pregnancy is not unusual, experts say. To some women, it can happen during the first trimester only, while others extend to the second and third trimesters. It's primarily due to hormonal shifts that affect our moods. However, crying can also be a symptom of a more serious problem, so it's best to tell your OB-Gyne about it.

We asked parents over at Smart Parenting Village, our Facebook group with over 100k members, about the silliest things they cried about when they were pregnant. These were the funniest answers!

What to do to manage crying spells during pregnancy

Managing crying spells during pregnancy can be challenging since hormonal shifts are beyond your control. However, Healthline recommends doing these steps to keep your tears at bay:

Get enough sleep.

Insufficient sleep can heighten stress levels and increase irritability. Aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night to promote emotional well-being.

Keep moving.

Consult your doctor about safe and gentle exercises during pregnancy. Activities such as walking, swimming, or participating in low-impact aerobics can enhance energy levels and contribute to improved mental health.

Have a support system.

Engage with other moms or pregnant women, either through online platforms or local groups like the Smart Parenting Village. Connecting with others who are going through similar experiences can help alleviate fears and anxieties associated with pregnancy. Sharing advice, personal stories, and providing emotional support can be beneficial.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

While preparing for a new baby can be overwhelming, it's essential not to put too much pressure on yourself. You don't have to handle everything alone, and there's no need to complete every task before the baby arrives. Excessive pressure can lead to frustration, guilt, and increased vulnerability to crying spells.
