  • Fans of new celebrity parents Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo are always on the lookout for updates on their growing family.

    With the addition of Baby D in their family, it's a new and unique journey for Jen and Dennis. 

    On Dennis' birthday last May 12, the actress wrote a sweet message for him, acknowledging his love and presence.

    "Happy birthday to the husband and dad with the heart of gold," Jen said. 

    She adds, "We feel so blessed to have found true love in your arms. Salamat sa iyong napakatamis na pagaalaga at hindi ka talaga nawala sa tabi namin from day 1."

    Jen concludes, "You make every waking hour a blessing! We love you!"

    Dennis and Jen, who tied the knot in November 2021, said they have been trying to get pregnant since 2018. They even explored surrogacy to conceive. 

    Picking up from Jen's message, she highlights the importance of a dad's role throughout a mom's parenthood journey- from pregnancy to postpartum.

    Most female and some male participants stated that husbands should appreciate their wives’ efforts during pregnancy and after delivery by buying her gifts or by verbally expressing appreciation

    Most participants believed that during pregnancy, the husband should participate in doing heavy household jobs.

    Most moms emphasized that husbands should be actively present during the last days of pregnancy and take her to the hospital on time when necessary.

    5. Dads have crucial role in providing postpartum support to moms

    Because of mother’s emotional changes in postpartum period, father’s support is much more needed. Husband can participate in giving kangaroo care to the newborn, and support breastfeeding.

    The study reiterates that care of a newborn is not just the mother’s duty. The father should also care for, bathe and change diapers.
