She jokingly wrote, “Starting a GoFundMe now.” All in all, her hospital bill came to P728,160.26.

The reel quickly became viral, with one netizen commenting, “Grabe, ang mahal. Ni-ready ko nung preggy ako sa dalawa kong anak, P70,000 to P100,000 sa private hospital na.” Several pages also reshared Mav’s story, sparking a conversation about the cost of giving birth in the Philippines.

Mav Gonzales Paid P700,000 for Normal Delivery

Mav gave birth in May 2026 at Makati Medical Center. In a separate Facebook post, she wrote, “I remember praying, ‘God, please don’t let me die. Not now that I just got my family.’ I hadn’t even bonded with my baby yet. God heard my prayer. A body warmer, several stitches, and blood transfusions after, I finally got to hold the greatest blessing Matt and I have ever received — a 7.5lb chubby-cheeked baby Maya.”

In the Facebook reel, she broke down her hospital bill after giving birth, asking, “How much did my birth in Makati Medical Center cost in 2026?”

The first item was the Birthing Suite at Makati Medical Center, which costs P1,580 per hour. She stayed there for 24 hours. In the comments section, she shared that they specifically chose the Birthing Suite because it allowed her husband to be with her during labor, delivery, and recovery.

In a separate video, she shared snippets of her stay in the Birthing Suite with her husband. He stayed with Mav throughout labor and was even allowed to hold her while she was in the tub, trying to push.

After the original video went viral, Mav shared an explanation. She said, “Sa mga nagtatanong sa tub, water birth po kasi ang gusto ko. I called different hospitals. Sa Makati Med lang ako nakakita ng water birth facility na pwede ang husband from labor to recovery. Our chosen OB also only practices in MMC, so we gave birth there.”

The next part included her delivery costs, including the epidural, medical supplies, and medicines, which totaled P115,163.26.

Although Mav didn’t share all the details of her birth or the complications afterward, she mentioned in the comments, “My baby was vacuumed. Siguro nakadagdag ’yon.”

The reel also showed the cost of her blood transfusions. Mav explained, “May tests kasi aside from the actual transfusion, tapos naka 3 bags of blood ako.” The blood transfusions and related tests cost P40,315.

Next was the hospital suite, which cost P21,900 per day, for a total of P43,600 for two days. Mav explained why they chose a hospital suite: “Nag-stay ang parents ko sa ospital para tumulong dahil nga may complications ako. Saan sila matutulog sa normal na room?”

The final part of her video covered the baby’s hospital bill (P30,284) and doctors’ professional fees: pediatrician (P58,478), anesthesiologist (P128,306), and OB-Gyne (P258,294).

Her total hospital bill came to P728,160.26. Philhealth benefits were then deducted—P29,000 for Mav and P5,119.50 for the baby.

Some commenters asked whether this was the maximum PhilHealth benefit for giving birth. Mav answered, “That’s the set benefit as far as I know. PBBM announced this last summer. Almost 15 years na po ako working and paying PhilHealth dues.” Her final bill after deductions was P694,040.76.

From Smart Parenting Village: 2026 Giving Birth Costs

Since Mav's reel went viral, we asked moms from Smart Parenting Village to share how much they spent on their hospital bills when they gave birth. We asked about their total hospital bill, where they gave birth, whether they had a normal or CS delivery, whether they availed of a maternity package, and whether their baby was admitted to NICU.

An anonymous mom shared, “Gave birth in September 2025, P150,000, Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, Normal Delivery, no complications.”

Another mom shared, “March 2026, P97,000 (with OB and Anes discount, P115,000 pag wala), Delgado Hospital, NSD, Yes, availed a maternity package, pero same lang din naman if hindi. No NICU.”

“P190,000, The Premier Medical Center Parañaque, Scheduled CS and 2 days in NICU,” another mom added.

A mom who also gave birth at Makati Med shared, “P300,000, Makati Med, July 2025, High-Risk Pregnancy (APAS), Birthing Suite availed for recovery, Large Room for 2 days, Emergency CS, and no need for NICU.”

Another mom who gave birth in February 2026 shared, “Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery in Makati Med with epidural, P355,000.”

Another comment read, “April 2, 2026, almost P700,000 for twins with one and a half months in NICU in Valenzuela Medical Center, zero billing.”

Marionette Marie Amparo shared, “Total cost is P500,000 in Makati Med, October 2025—emergency CS, pre-term baby pero well baby, one day lang sa NICU. Nag-catch sa kanya was neonatologist kaya mas mahal inabot ang PF. I was admitted 3 days before delivery because they were trying to reach 36 weeks. Sa OB theater pa ako naka-confine, not sa regular room, and I am closely monitored ng mga OB interns. With everything that I went through, worth it naman dahil healthy and okay na okay kami ni baby.”
