  • Back in June, we featured dad of three Joel Hilario for his honest and heartwarming review of a dishwasher that he bought for his wife, Arcie. Now the dad is back and this time, he's making a case for an automatic bread maker that they recently bought for their kids.

Parents who are in charge of going to the grocery would know how important it is to include bread on the shopping list, especially when it’s your kids’ favorite snack.

The bread maker has pre-set programs so all you have to do is add the ingredients and press the correct button.

Getting an automatic bread maker has been on Joel’s mind for quite some time, having spotted one at the supermarket. After researching about the appliance and watching videos on how to use it, he and Arcie decided to buy one. It was perfect timing, too, as Arcie saw a bread maker online that was on sale at 50 percent off.

The 12 programs allows them to make classic loaves of bread, flavored bread like Apple-Cinnamon loaves, and other instant cake mixes. Compared to the 450g loaf you can buy in stores for Php36 to Php50, having your own bread maker yields a 700g bread loaf at the same price.

Joel shares a computation below showing the cost per ingredient and even the electric consumption of the appliance:

The prices indicated above may differ according to the brands you use for flour, oil, and sugar.

When it comes to using the bread maker, Joel shares that it’s easy to use and there’s a manual that can help you operate the appliance.

After adding the ingredients and setting the program, it usually takes three hours to bake the bread. If you’re not in a rush to bake, you can also set the timer as to when you would like the machine to start making bread, for example, early in the morning.

In just three hours, you can have freshly baked bread.

Is it a sulit buy? For a family who loves bread and those who want to kickstart their baking journey, Joel says it’s a must-have.

The only downside to baking your own bread at home is its shorter shelf life since you’re not using preservatives.

Aside from being able to bake freshly baked bread for his kids, what Joel loves best about having a bread maker is it has turned baking into a bonding activity with his daughter.
