Being a parent doesn’t mean that we should neglect ourselves. As we’ve always said before, you cannot pour from an empty cup, and the best way that we can take care of our families is by ensuring we are healthy and happy.
This holds true for the celebrity parents who attended the GMA Gala. And the best part, they even shared their practical and go-to beauty tips that help them look and feel their best with Smart Parenting. Here’s a rundown:
Prioritize self-love
Cristalle Belo, mother of two, and managing director of The Belo Group, a beauty, cosmetic, and dermatology empire, emphasizes the importance of self-love. “First, self-love. You have to fill your cup before you can fill the cup of others,” Cristalle said. “So before being a great mom, you have to take good care of yourself first.” We definitely agree, mama!
Teamwork makes the dream work
Cristalle’s husband, Justin Pitt, highlighted the importance of support from partners, saying, “Support your wife when she’s getting ready. Look after the kids so that she has the three or four hours they need to look amazing.” Justin might be pertaining to that night, but his advice is still very much applicable to any other day, underscoring the value of partnership and shared responsibilities, allowing both parents to have the time they need for themselves and self-care.
Find reliable help
Alice Dixson, an actress and mother of two, stressed the importance of having reliable help. “Get a good yaya! So that you can rest,” she advised. “Syempre kapag ngarag ka, you’re tired, you don’t always look your best. So I think, try to find good help so that you can rest.” Adequate rest is essential for maintaining a fresh and healthy appearance, and having trusted assistance can provide much-needed downtime. If a trusted yaya is hard to find, parents can seek support from extended family members and even close parent friends.
Healthy sleep and no sugar
Mom of three and popular Filipina dermatologist and business mogul Vicki Belo, shared the importance of sleep and a healthy diet. She warned about the negative effects of sugar, saying, “Sleep well and don’t eat so much sugar. I only learned lately that sugar really causes a lot of toxicity to the body and wrinkles. It breaks up your collagen. So now I’ve cut it down.” Reducing sugar intake and ensuring quality sleep can significantly improve skin health, preventing premature aging and promoting a radiant complexion.
Use sunscreen and boost collagen
Vicki’s husband and media personality Hayden Kho emphasized the importance of using sunscreen and collagen. “Sunscreen! And collagen! It really helps the bones, the skin, hair,” he noted. Sunscreen protects the skin from harmful UV rays, preventing skin damage and aging. Collagen supplements on the other hand, support skin elasticity and overall health.
