Change Hair Color or Go Fuller Brows Without Permanent Commitment!
  • When it comes to the world of beauty, it’s always ‘so many trends, so little time!’ For busy moms like us, however, to try something new without even being sure it looks good can be precious time wasted. It's why we stick to anything "timeless." Of course, we want to change up our looks -- without having to make long-term commitments. So we’ve rounded up four quick, temporary fixes to satisfy your inner chameleon. Try it before going for a more permanent beauty transformation!

    Want to score fuller brows?
    Instead of: Microblading
    Try: Brow Tint

It’s easy to get a long-term fix for sparse or non-existent brows with microblading, a method wherein an artist fills in your arches with hair-like strokes, similar to a cosmetic tattoo. Though this procedure can be quite pricey, it’s a worthy investment considering how long the effect lasts (two to three years). Of course, there’s the risk of ending up with botched brows if you’re not careful in choosing your brow artist.

The next best thing? You can get perfect brows that last three to seven days with a liquid brow tint, like the K-Palette Lasting Eyebrow Tint (P895, Beauty Bar). It’s easy to use: Using the brush applicator, you simply draw on your desired shape with the liquid eyebrow tint. (You can do it freehand or use the stencils provided.) Leave it on for two hours or overnight, then peel the hardened liquid to reveal your newly tinted brows. Done! You save time by not having to fill in your brows every morning, but you’re also not tied down since the tint fades naturally after a few days. Win-win.

    Want to color your hair?
    Instead of: Hair Dye
    Try: Hair Chalk

We’re sure you’ve dreamt of rocking Pinterest-worthy locks. Think: A gorgeous wavy style with pink ombré color at the ends or the usual black ‘do but with unexpected streaks of purple. The hard truth though we just don’t have the time to spend a full day at the salon. But now you can actually sport these bold looks without having to leave the house for hours!

Try hair chalks, tress-friendly pigments that can give your strands a superficial coat of color that you can easily wash off. A good drugstore option is Chromastix Hair Chalk (P149, Watsons), which comes with its own applicator for easy coloring. Just apply directly on damp hair and repeat until you achieve the desired color strength. To seal the color in, mist hair with a holding spray. To remove the pigment, wash hair thoroughly with shampoo and water. Also available: Chromastix Hair Chalk Intense (no applicator, P99, Watsons), a set of six shades.

    Want to enhance your lashes?
    Instead of: Lash Extensions
    Try: A lash lift

Fuller, longer lashes can easily brighten your face even without makeup! But if you’ve ever tried getting lash extensions, then you’re probably already familiar with the amount of maintenance it requires, plus the danger of having your real lashes fall off with your faux strands. Eep!

Here’s a better alternative: Get a semi-permanent lash lift, like Yumi Lashes Lift + Tint (P4,000, Strokes by Momoi Supe, 1/F Greenbelt 1). This treatment gives your natural lashes a lift by curling it from the base (not in the middle, as in lash perming) for a visible boost that can last for two to three months. Plus, it also infuses your strands with keratin to promote growth over time and uses an organic tint to make lashes appear thicker and longer. It’s safer and looks more natural than extension, and you can still apply mascara!

Want to rock a longer hairstyle?
Instead of: Waiting for your hair to grow out
Try: Clip-on hair extensions, ponytails, and buns

If you like changing your hairstyle, but don’t want to wait for months to grow your hair out, you can easily sport longer hair with natural-looking hair extensions like those available from Tokyo Posh.

Currently wearing a bob but want a long, cheerleader ponytail? Try their Put-On Ponytail, a clip-on tail that comes in three shades. Want a ballerina bun, but your current length can't make it? They have Audrey, a rounded bun that looks like the real thing. If you’re daring to go long and lustrous, though, check out Blair, gorgeously wavy locks that are perfect for a glam night out.
