Moms Share The Products That Got Rid Of Their Blackheads For GoodMaskne is real, so make time for skincare.by Kitty Elicay .
One of the most annoying skincare problems that moms face are blackheads: hair follicles clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria that appear as small, black bumps on the skin. It is a type of acne that forms on the face, but can also be found on the back, chest, neck, arms, and shoulders. With everyone wearing a face mask these days, maskne (acne caused by masks) as well as blackheads and whiteheads, have become a persistent problem.
What causes blackheads?
Blackheads make your skin look dirty, but it is not a sign that you’re too dirty, according to Allure. There are many factors that increase your chances of developing blackheads, says Healthline. These include:
- producing too much oil in the body
- buildup of propionibacterium acne bacteria, the primary bacteria that causes acne and inflammation
- irritation of hair follicles
- hormonal changes during menstruation or while taking birth control pills
- taking medication
How do I get rid of blackheads?
On our parenting community, Smart Parenting Village, a mom asked for recommendations on the best way to remove blackheads at home. Here are their tried-and-tested products.
(Editor’s Note: What worked for others might not always work for you, so it is always best to consult a dermatologist. Do a skin patch test to observe any adverse reactions before using these products.)

While nose strips are a popular option for getting rid of blackheads, it can be quite painful when you’re peeling it off. This balm uses oil to extract impurities and sebum on your skin, leaving it moisturized, supple, and looking fresh.
One mom says she leaves it on for 30 minutes then wipes it off with cotton rounds. “Piga piga ng very, very light and lumalabas ng kusa ‘yung mga white heads at black heads sa ilong ko,” she says.
One mom says it’s important to exfoliate because our country’s warm weather accelerates oil buildup. She recommends this exfoliator that’s gentle enough to use every day. It can help slough off dead surface skin cells and cleanse dirt, oil, and other impurities.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (Php700)
A lot of moms recommended The Ordinary products, including this liquid mask treatment that works in just 10 minutes. It visibly improves and brightens skin texture, plus reduces acne and hyperpigmentation.
The formula is quite strong, so do not leave on for more than 10 minutes. It is best to use only once or twice a week.

Moms also love this Korean brand, which they say is “super effective.” It’s a powerful exfoliator that seeps into pores to dislodge blackheads but is gentle on the skin. It will leave you with brighter, tighter skin, but moms do advise to use sunblock after each use.
