One of the things I hated about the weeks following the birth of my daughters was the hair fall I experienced. I remember getting anxious whenever I saw the amount of hair stuck in my hairbrush or on the shower drain, worried if I’d still have a full head of hair in the coming days. Both times, I had to cut my hair short and refrain from hair coloring or any other similar treatments to minimize hair fall.
It’s been four years since I last gave birth, and these days, I have a newfound enthusiasm for hair treatments. Unfortunately, this isn’t because the hair fall has lessened, but rather because I have somewhat accepted it as a normal part of my motherhood era. Nevertheless, I’m more discerning these days with the treatments I choose. When Meinas Scalp Treatment Center invited our team to try their services, I was curious. This would be my first time trying a scalp treatment, having always focused on hair treatments before. If you’re also interested in what a scalp treatment entails, read my review below.
What is a scalp treatment?
As the name implies, a scalp treatment focuses on the scalp rather than the hair. It helps restore your scalp’s balance by sloughing away dead skin cells, boosting hydration levels, or soothing irritation.
Meinas graciously let us try their 7 Step Professional Scalp Caring Treatment, a 90-minute session designed to restore the scalp’s health through a soothing massage, oxygen regeneration, and an intensive sea mud treatment.
The Meinas Experience
Upon arriving at the Meinas clinic located at the SM North Annex, I was greeted by a serene environment. My session began with a complimentary scalp consultation, where I discovered that I have a dry scalp and am suffering from hair fall, confirming my suspicions. The technician said that on average, one to three terminal hairs grow from a single scalp follicle, and I have an average of one to two, based on the scalp photo taken during my consultation.
We then proceeded to the actual treatment:
Scalp Massage
The first step was a soothing scalp massage using the Meinas wooden health comb. This step was designed to enhance blood circulation and fortify hair roots. It was both relaxing and invigorating, providing a sense of immediate relief to my scalp. The use of the wooden comb added a natural and therapeutic feel, enhancing the overall experience.
Scalp Stimulation
Following the massage, the therapist applied the Meinas natural seamud. Rich in 26 types of minerals, the seamud effectively targets and eliminates bacteria on the scalp. I could feel the cooling effect of the mud working on my scalp. This step is to create a clean and healthy foundation for the next stages of the treatment.
Oxygen Regeneration
The oxygen regeneration therapy was perhaps the most intriguing part of the treatment. Using the Meinas Oxygen Machine, activated pressurized oxygen was pointed directly in front of me. This therapy is designed to release toxins and rejuvenate the scalp’s cellular activity. The sensation was refreshing and lent a more relaxing feel to the whole session.
Scalp Purification
Next came the deep cleansing with Meinas’ Herb Scalp Cleanser, which is formulated to promote hair growth, relieve dandruff, and manage oil secretion and hairfall. This step felt gentle yet thorough, leaving my scalp feeling deeply cleansed and revitalized.
Scalp Nourishment
The treatment continued with a massage using Meinas’ Herb Botanical Cleanser. This step supports nutrient activation and absorption, ensuring that my scalp received the full benefits of the treatment. The botanical elements provided a natural and earthy aroma, enhancing the calming experience.
Botanical Herb Tonic Infusion
Using the Meinas Oxy-Life machine, the Herb Tonic was infused into my scalp. This tonic addresses itching, hair fall, dandruff, hair regrowth, and other scalp concerns. The infusion process was seamless, and I could feel the tonic penetrating deep into my scalp, promoting a nourishing effect that felt both immediate and lasting.
Scalp Activation
The final step involved getting the Herb Tonic to penetrate into my hair and scalp using a specialized machine to promote scalp activation. This allowed the nutrients to be deeply absorbed, promoting healthy hair growth. This step was the perfect conclusion to the treatment, leaving my scalp feeling nurtured and my hair revitalized.
After the treatment, we went back to the consultation room to check and take a photo of my scalp after the treatment. Compared to the photo pre-treatment, my scalp after looked more moisturized and healthy. The technician advised me to not shampoo, wet, or tie my hair 24 hours after the treatment. A day later, my scalp felt generally lighter and cleaner, with no irritations or itchiness. And my hair felt softer and less weighed down.
Although I wasn’t able to immediately determine if the treatment relieved my hair fall problems (which would require several regular treatments), the Meinas Scalp Treatment is a promising and worthwhile option for moms who want to indulge and pamper themselves. Unlike other hair treatments that focus on the actual hair, Meinas treats the scalp, since a healthy scalp logically leads to healthier hair.
Aside from the 7 Step Professional Scalp Caring Treatment, Meinas’ other services include COQ10 Scalp Treatment with Hair Treatment, COQ10 Scalp Anti Aging Treatment, Rejuvenating Nano Hair Treatment, and Restorative Nano Hair Treatment, with packaged service options for easier payments. They also sell maintenance products and treatments designed to address specific scalp and hair concerns. Their clinic is located at the lower ground floor of The Annex, SM North EDSA.
