Vien Iligan-Velasquez No Regrets On Getting A Rhinoplasty: 'Mas Lamang Yung Papuri Kaysa Pang-Iinsulto'

Mom of two and content creator Vien Iligan-Velasquez fulfilled her dream of getting a nose job and chin augmentation on February 9.

Two years ago, her husband, Junnie Boy Velasquez, gave her the go signal to proceed with the cosmetic surgery she had been long wishing to have. "Ito yung gustong-gusto. Hindi ko naman ito gagawin kung hindi ako pinayagan ng asawa ko."

Before the operation, Junnie Boy expressed his nervousness, saying, "Kinakabahan ako pre, para akong nambabae kasi iba na yung itsura." Vien assured him, saying, "Bagong itsura lang, pero ako pa rin ito."

Vien Iligan-Velasquez undergoes rhinoplasty, chin augmentation

In her vlog titled "My Nose Job + Chin Augmentation", Vien first revealed her new look, two weeks after the operation. 

"Lahat talaga maga pa. Two weeks palang. Hindi pa ako masyadong nag-e-expect ng bonggang-bonggang ganda. Ngayon talaga, ang tangos-tangos ko, tsaka ang tulis. Para akong si Pinocchio!" Her doctor advised that the final outcome will be visible after 12 to 18 months.

She added, "Pag kumikiss ako sa mga bata, tumutusok sa mukha nila. Kailangan nakatagilid!"

"Masaya ako kasi nagawa ko na finally. Sa mga nagdududa, sa mga nagdadalawang isip sa rhinoplasty, 'wag na kayo magdalawang isip sa pag-rhinoplasty. Pero 100 times na isip sa doktor na pipiliin niyo, siyempre."

Vien said it's one of the best decisions she's ever made, "Sa mga magpapa-rhinoplasty diyan, kailangan talaga physically, mentally, and financially prepared ka." 

Rhinoplasty Q&A with Vien Iligan-Velasquez

On March 7, Vien answered the questions from her followers regarding her nose job and chin augmentation in her vlog entitled, "Rhinoplasty Q&A."

She already expected that some people will have negative comments towards her decision, nevertheless, she said, "Mas lamang pa rin kasi yung papuri kaysa sa pang-iinsulto sa'yo. Kaya sobrang saya ko and mas lamang talaga yung mga positive comments kaysa sa nega comments."

1. Who is Vien's rhinoplasty doctor?

Regarding her plastic surgeon, Vien revealed that she went to Dr. Henry Claravall of Clara V Medical in Pasig City. She clarified that she paid for her Gore-tex Rhinoplasty operation and it was not sponsored. "Kinonsider ko din yun kung sino gumawa dun sa mga artista, sino gumawa sa influencer na to. Base kasi sa nakikita ko, parang hindi talaga bagay sa akin yung mga ilong nila," she explained.

2. Why did Vien decide to get a nose job?

She explained her reasons for wanting the procedure, citing negative comments she received growing up about her nose. "Meron akong classmate nung high school, sabi niya, 'Alam mo, maganda ka sana, malaki lang talagang ilong mo.' Yun yung mga parang tumatak sa isip ko na laki na ilong ko, ang pangit ko, ang pangit ng ilong mo," she said.

Now that she's able to finally get her nose done, she believes it will help her boost her confidence, "Ginagawa ko naman talaga ito para sa sarili ko, and hindi para sa iba."

She added, "Masaya ko, kaya may mga nagsasabi na proud sila kasi totoo ako, kasi totoong tao naman talaga ako. Gusto ko lang iparating sa inyo na walang masama sa pag-pa-retoke.

3. What was her family's reaction to her new look?

With regards to her parents, Vien shared, "Sabi nila, ingat ako, iwasan na masanggi ng mga anak ko, ganyan. Happy naman sila. Actually, nagpaalam talaga ako sa kanila through GC, sa group chat namin. 'Hi mama, papa, mag-pa-pa-retoke ako ng ilong, ganyan, ganyan. Kailan? At saka, saan?' Walang gano'n sina Mama, walang gano'n sina Papa."

Her 5-year-old son, Mavi, even complimented her, saying she looked beautiful even with the cast and bandages.

Aside from Vien, Junnie was the happiest with her enhancements. "Masaya talaga yung asawa ko. Laging akong tinitigan. Laging akong sinasabihin, ang ganda-ganda ko, ganyan. Though before naman, sinasabihin naman niya ako ng maganda."

4. What were the struggles post-operation?

For Vien, the day after the operation was the hardest. She experienced nosebleeds, and difficulty breathing through her mouth for three days. "Three days akong nagtiis, huminga sa bibig, ganon kahirap. Sa mga magpapa rhinoplasty, ayun yung mga i-consider, ang hirap ng day 1 lang naman."

She adds, what's more difficult was recovering from chin augmentation. It took her a week to recover from the pain. That's why she needed help in caring for her two kids.

5. Did the operation boost her confidence?

"Nabu-boost naman confidence ko, dahil din sa mga tao sa paligid ko, dahil supportado nila ako, dahil masaya sila sa akin, para sa mga viewers ko, na masaya para sa ginawa ko. Masaya ako. What more, kapag gumanda na lalo tong ilo ko?" she said.

6. How much did the operation cost?

Vien broke down how much she spent for her surgery. She spent Php 170,000 for the rhinoplasty; Php 25,000 for anesthesia; Php 7,000 for medicines; Php 1,500 for IV antibiotics; and Php 15,880 for her post-op medicines.

The chin augmentation meanwhile cost her Php 60,000. All in all, she spent Php 279,380.00. 

"So, yun yung sinasabi ko sa inyo, kailangan maging ready kayo, physically, mentally, emotionally, and syempre, financially sa pagpaparetoke," she stressed.

7. Does she need to renew her valid IDs and passport photos?

Just to be sure, Vien said, she will work on the renewal of her valid IDs to avoid encountering problems in the future since her family loves to travel.

8. Is there anything else she wants to enhance in her body?

"Wala na akong ipapabago sa katawan ko, like boobs, magpadagdag ng puwet.
Wala. So, sobrang okay talaga ako sa katawan ko. And, ang dami din naman nagsasabi na okay katawan, mabuti ka pa, payat ka pa. Kailangan ko bumalik sa workout kasi kailangan matone ang katawan ko," she explained.

She ended her vlog saying how happy she is about the changes, "Maraming maraming salamat sa lahat ng masaya para sa akin sa ginawa ko, sa mga nagandahan, and sa mga talagang proud sa akin na nagawa ko na itong dream kong pagpapa-rhinoplasty. I'm so happy. Sa totoo lang, masaya talaga ako."
