Going back to your pre-pregnancy body is a struggle all moms deal with and to be honest — it's perfectly okay. But while you've come to love your body no matter what shape and size you are, there are times when you want to some add curves or give your rear a boost without you having to break into a sweat! That's where shapewear comes in.
They are called miracle-workers because they can supposedly cut inches off your waist and smoothen your lumps much like Photoshop — but in real life. With such claims, these shapers also don't come cheap. Keep these three things in mind when buying these body shapers:
When it comes to shapewear, the most important thing is to stick to your size. Some think that going one size down — buying a 'small' when you're really a 'medium' — will provide extra firmness. But it will only cause unwanted bulges and leave you feeling uncomfortable. Try a shapewear in the fitting room (with underwear on) and sit and walk around to see if you've found the right fit.
Go for a high waist.
Because shapewear squeezes your body, the skin often piles up on top. A high waist guarantee a smooth line all the way up your torso, according to Bustle. When in doubt, look for a body-suit for all-over shaping.
Look for cotton fabrics.
Shapewear is commonly made of nylon and spandex, so some women have complained that their shapewear becomes too "hot" when worn for too long. If you want something more breathable, opt for those that have a blend of cotton for added comfort.
To help you decide on whether shapewear is right for you, we asked two of our favorite moms (and game to do anything!), Czarina Ledesma and Chal Lontoc del Rosario, to try on different brands of shapewear and see whether moms really need it in their lives.
When it comes to road tests, we can always count on them for their honest and unfiltered opinion. Once again, they do not disappoint!
From comfort levels, style, price points, and visible difference, watch as they make a verdict on these body shapers.
